I'm getting the same problem.
On the first fire pit i'll be about 6 steps from the pit and can here it
on my right, and when I press control, shift, right arrow she just takes
one step forward.

pit she isn't going to jump it from six feet away. Use a little common
sense. She has to run up to it before jumping it. Since people have a
little problem understanding how it works here is a spoiler.
