[Audyssey] Terraformas help

2010-05-06 Thread Lori Duncan
Hi everyone, I found this game on the net last night. It's called Terraforma
and is seemingly playible by both blind and sighted people. I was very
impressed with the voice quality, very clear as is the sound quality. I think
though it needs some work as far as a sounds menu and intigrated help, also
when the escape key is hit it quites the game without any warning so I went
through most of the training only to lose because I was in a menu and hit
escape like I would in any other audio game. I was wondering what other people
think of this game and how or if there is a way to pause gameplay. I'm running
the windows demo with xp at the moment, but hitting S to save game doesn't do
anything. Any help would be welcome. Many thanks from Lori.

Yep, you need to get used to hitting end to end the menue. Sinse your using
home though to go through menues this didn't seem too problematic to me.

As far as the game itself goes, I was generaly rather impressed with the
sound scapes, descriptions, and the various audio systems from coordinates
to sonar and cumpus.

My only miner niggle interface wise is when you've got two similar
objects, --- eg, two doors, they're simply referd to as door with their
coordinates, some distinction, eg, door 1 and door 2, might have been nice
and more easily let you know what objects you had or hadn't visited.

It was also very nice for me to actually have a game I could use my vision
in in connection with the sound navigation features.

What I found myself doing was using a combination of both, just as I do
in real life, though I also did have a go at turning the graffics off and
playing without.

My only really major problem with the game, is that despite the great
atmosphere and systematic mechanics, it's down right easy! everything
you need for certain puzles is in either the same room or a previous one,
there's really no need to search at all, and the layout is very symple
indeed.

In fact the only two places in the game that gave me any trouble at all were
the underwater room (mostly due to all the many objects), and one of the
puzles on the last level, the mine puzle was easy, but the tank and key
puzle was a pest.

Even the last boss was a pushover once I realized that all i needed to do
was keep moving.

In many ways Terraformers plays more like a highly advanced tech demo than a
game. I really do find myself wishing the people would actually create
something with a larger layout, actual need to explore, and where everything
wasn't handed to you on a silver platta.

Beware the grue!

Dark.
