admittedly playing a paladin I don't need many reagents, but it does seem
that a lot of the common ones such as elemental reagents, --- earth, water,
air and fire, may either just be picked up or randomly bought, it's only the
specific ones like Astrel which i believe are hard to come by.

I haven't noticed any of that. And ranger is part mage, actually. They get
spells like armor, magic dart, spark, etc. They do start with a bag of
components though, but I assume that's mostly for brewing potions and doing
things with herbalism.
you just buy reagents in shhops though. they aren't that hard to obtain. And
to really play the game to the fullest you will eventually be all classes,
if you stick with the game anyway. When you pick a class, you advance to
level 60. You can quest during your time there or receive marks, which
