Re: [Audyssey] Fw: Announcing the release of Blind GamersChessChallenge
Hi, Agreed. Fact is Ian is the author of his games, and he soully has the right to decide how they get redistributed. While I might disagree with him about using email instead of offering them for download it is still his decision to make. Besides it has taken me longer to get things from Amazon.com than it took Ian to send me the Chess setup. I emailed him two days ago, and it just came in my inbox this morning. So a little patients is required. I like Chess as well as the next guy, but my world wasn't going to fall apart if the game didn't end up in my inbox 5 minutes after I made the request. Sheesh. If he is willing to put time and effert into making these games, free of charge, isn't it worth our time to do as he asks. It is very hard, after all, to send a reply with our name and country in the message. Re: [Audyssey] Fw: Announcing the release of Blind GamersChessChallenge
It's not all that time consuming to wait for an Email. How he sends the game out is his decision, and you have no room to complain. The price is right. Nothing. Have you suggested to him, directly, that he make the games available for download rather than sending them through Email? If so, what did he send as his reasoning? --- Pretty is as pretty does. - Original Message - From: "Will Lomas" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Gamers Discussion list" Sent: Monday, September 22, 2008 10:16 AM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Fw: Announcing the release of Blind GamersChessChallenge > why doesn't he just put the damn games up for download why mess aroud > getting it through e mail that is why i have never played his game, he > makes getting them so time consuming > > On 22 Sep 2008, at 17:47, Michael Feir wrote: > >> I hope I get the game from him soon to check it out. Well I had cchess 6000 and chest master 6000 on a system a while ago. I remember I ran cm600 and cchess on a system with my brother and ran the same stuff on a system and got both programs running eachother on both systems and on the second system, ofcause we had a 10 sec time setting for decisions but the systems played chess which was interesting. Re: [Audyssey] Fw: Announcing the release of Blind GamersChessChallenge
Will, I find this response a bit over the top. ian simply likes to speak personally to people playing his games. he was apparently offered hoasting on audiogames.net but actually said he prefferred to know who was playing his games, and what they thought o them, not to mention adding them to the mailing list for future releases. I can well see if I was a games developer, i'd much rather speak to people myself than just have them come and grab. Not to play someone's games simply because you can't be bothered to send an E-mail is imho, a tad lazy, - not to mention slightly rude. appologies for this rather hot response, but i've had several e-mail chats with ian, and he's a really nice fellow, not to mention that he makes rather good games. afterall, he doesn't even ask you to pay for them!
