Hi,
Yeah, Shaun definitely has a formatting obsession. That's his own
personal fix all solution, and it is usually absolutely unnecessary.
No offense to Shaun, but if you have to resort to reformatting your
computer everytime you have a problem then it means you haven't a clue
how to fix and maintain your operating system. Most problems can be
trouble shooted and fixed without a complete reformat. Reformatting
the system should be the alternative of last resort.

Cheers!

system restore is a very workable solution, and has got me out of some
rather nasty troubles in the past (usually to do with user accounts).

These days, if I'm ever going to do any major muckings about with the
system, I'd setup a restore point as matter of course, just in case
something goes wrong and I need to system restore.

If my computer has a problem and I can't find an immediate solution myself,
system restore tends to be the first thing I try on a general basis.

Re: [Audyssey] Major Problem!

2010-03-22 Thread dark
Actually last year my computer did get a virus, which was entirely my
fault for opening a dodgy E-mail. I downloaded and installed the demo of
avg, which solved the problem so neetly I've now got the full version,
just in case.

So, unless it's a very! persistant virus indeed, not even in that
circumstance would I reformat.

I wonder if a reinstall would work Hayden?

Shaun, I agree on very big things. Such as a trojen horse ran in to your
computer. Then reformat for other big problems. This ain't a big problem.

I wonder if a reinstall would work Hayden?

Personally, I think I've only ever reformatted a machine once, and that

into user account shinanigans, but at most these just mean deleting
one account and creating another, not reformatting at all.

Generally i've found a good antivirus and occasional use of utilities like

mostly I've only ever changed machines when the hardware actually broke
down, as happened with my old desktop in august of 2008, though it

they find out all of their deta is gonn, then they get angry, what are you
going to do? Maybe Hayden has something very important on their such as
homework. Did you even think of that? So, their are other ways of fixing
computers. Surch. Not every people what they tell you is true. Their are
other ways of doing these stuff with out formating. Then, you could resurch
on google. Sorry if i'm complaining, but its going to leed to a bad point at

Have you tried restarting machine etc.?

Just asking since maybe it's at the very least running in the background
somewhere...?

Alternatively, you might be able to confirm that by hitting Ctrl + Alt +
Del, and looking for it in either the tasks or processes lists that should
come up if the task manager loads, and then you could try ending it from
there in case that will help, but, if you restart machine it should be
gone

when machine reboots.

I've got a slight (well, bigger than that) problem. Earlier tonight, I
attempted to luunch time of conflict. The updater came up, and I answered
yes. After the installation, it said something about conflict.exe was not
able to be replaced. I just tried to delete it from the folder after
uninstalling, and I cannot, it says someihing abut access is denied.
