Hi Dark,

Yeah, I know. I was in my high school drama club for a couple of
years, and I was never able to just cry on demand either. Plus like
you if I get hurt, physically hurt that is, I'm more likely to just
get angry than cry, and if I am hurt enough to get angry I generally
cuss up a blue streak. Lol!

I suppose I get that from my dad. I can remember plenty of times
growing up when my dad might hit himself with the hammer, and he'd
spend the next minute or two cussing and swearing at the hammer. It
was pretty funny to listen to him call that hammer every name in the
book and then some. Now, that I'm adult I find myself doing the same
thing if I run face first into an open cabinet door, bang my knee on
an end table, or anything else painful I generally give it a few
choice words even though it can't hear me.

Hi Paulette, no you don't, all you do is copy your user code, which is the
number Sarah speaks at the start of the game, once you hit space on the okay
button to run the game in demo mode, she'll say something like your user
code is, then some numbers. This is used to produce your product key,
which you can enter into the registration box once you've baught the game.
The key is sent via email, and the easiest way to enter it is to copy and
paste it into the box from your email, then save the email somewhere save,
so you still have a copy of the key. Then you've got the full game and can
get back to scaring Peeves. Hope this helps, fromm Lori.

Hi Paulette,
To play the Sarah game you need to,
1. download the full version.

Its name is, Sarah10.exe, and it's size is 176.3 MB.
2. install the file.
3. download the patch. Sarah Patch4.exe
It is 19.6 MB.
4. install the patch.
When the install asks do you want to use the existing folder hit y.
Now you can try it out by going on your desktop and looking for the sarah
game or to go to your program files list to find the game.
This second way is better as you can run the help file or read the
instructions file first.

Hi Paulette,
I last updated the Sarah game in 2009, but I am working on a full update
that I hope to release sometime in the next few months.
In the earlier update I did add a few spells and in the new update I
added

some more.
In the original game the goal was just to get out of the castle, but in
the
update I am working on, there will be several goals.
You can download and try out the current version that allows you to
explore
two floors of the castle free.
The reason for the two downloads on the download site is that I decided
not
to update the full version as it would take over a week to do that and
meanwhile I would have to update the full version anyway because of the
new
levels and files I'm adding to the game.

The full current version is almost 300 MB so it should be downloaded and
installed first.
Then the patch should be downloaded and installed second to add the new
spells and to fix some bugs.

Hi paulette.

The changes to the game are in the patch file, not on the page, so
download

the game and run the patch to have the latest one.

while Sarah is a fantastic game, I will say that the audio first person
navigation it requires, along with the large amount of sounds do make it
one
of the more complex games to play, and if your not as familiar with
computer

games generally you might considder trying something simpler and first
person such as shades of doom, gma tank commander (both of which have
demos), or terraformers (which is actually free now).

This isn't to say don't try sarah, the game is great, and the navaids are
more than up to the task, only that you possibly might want to approach
the

game with caution so as to get the most out of it, if it's not one of a
style you've experienced before.

All the best,

Dark.

Hi Paulette,

Phil has a major update in the works for Sarah that will hopefully be out
sometime this year, but the last update was released in 2009. So if you
want to try the game download and install the main setup file, then
download and install the patch. That will give you a couple of levels to
try out. In my opinion it is by far one of my fave five games .However,
if

you aren't very experienced with audio games the game could be a bit
daunting as it has a full 2d first-person perspective which some blind
gamers have difficulty with at first.

Cheers!

I have been gradually replacing the synthesized voices with human ones.
First to change was the voice of Sarah, then came the caretaker, and
Sarah's father as a howler.
I felt that the humans in the game should sound human but did not feel the
same for some of the ghosts, goblin and Dobby the house elf.
I have animal voices for fang and Fluffy thanks to my dogs, and a bird
sound for the phoenix and cat sounds for Mrs. Noris and the

cat pictures.
I used my own voice for the eagle painting, the king frog and the
headmaster.
I used the sound of a baby crying for the troll and a real british woman
trying to imitate the Fat lady.

In the update I have many more human voices that you can hear when
reviewing the sounds.

Here is a list of the new human voices:
bloody baron.
divination-teacher.
Grop.
Helena the grey lady.
Mrs. honeyduke.
olivander.
peter.
the sphinx.
Cadogan the knight.
Merperson voice of the Golden egg.

Hi Nicole,
If I can convince people to record their voices as one of the six voices
that are done by synthesizers, then it is easy to replace the sound files
with the new ones.

So far I've gotten one person willing to record a voice.
It would be good if they speak in a British accent as I think the ghosts are
mostly from the UK.
I will not tell how to get out onto the grounds of the castle. That is a
secret that you have to figure out.
If you do manage to get out, you can get on the bus, but if you do that it
is the end of the game as I did not put the whole country into the game
update.

smiles,
Phil

Hi Nicole,
If I can convince people to record their voices as one of the six voices
that are done by synthesizers, then it is easy to replace the sound files
with the new ones.

So far I've gotten one person willing to record a voice.
It would be good if they speak in a British accent as I think the ghosts
are mostly from the UK.
I will not tell how to get out onto the grounds of the castle. That is a
secret that you have to figure out.
If you do manage to get out, you can get on the bus, but if you do that it
is the end of the game as I did not put the whole country into the game
update.

smiles,
Phil

Hi,

I have been gradually replacing the synthesized voices with human ones.
First to change was the voice of Sarah, then came the caretaker, and

I felt that the humans in the game should sound human but did not feel
the same for some of the ghosts, goblin and Dobby the house elf.
I have animal voices for fang and Fluffy thanks to my dogs, and a bird
sound for the phoenix and cat sounds for Mrs. Noris and the

cat pictures.
I used my own voice for the eagle painting, the king frog and the
headmaster.
I used the sound of a baby crying for the troll and a real british woman
trying to imitate the Fat lady.

In the update I have many more human voices that you can hear when
reviewing the sounds.

Here is a list of the new human voices:
bloody baron.
divination-teacher.
Grop.
Helena the grey lady.
Mrs. honeyduke.
olivander.
peter.
the sphinx.
Cadogan the knight.
Merperson voice of the Golden egg.
bob ogden in the basen.
and finally the bus conductor.

 Cheers!

If you do manage to get out, you can get on the bus, but if you do that

Hi,
I originally developed the Sarah game with all synthesized voices to
save time and money.

I have been gradually replacing the synthesized voices with human ones.
First to change was the voice of Sarah, then came the caretaker, and
Sarah's father as a howler.

I used my own voice for the eagle painting, the king frog and the
headmaster.
I used the sound of a baby crying for the troll and a real british
woman trying to imitate the Fat lady.

In the update I have many more human voices that you can hear when
reviewing the sounds.

Here is a list of the new human voices:
bloody baron.
divination-teacher.
Grop.
Helena the grey lady.
Mrs. honeyduke.
olivander.
peter.
the sphinx.
Cadogan the knight.
Merperson voice of the Golden egg.
bob ogden in the basen.
and finally the bus conductor.

Actually I've been to a couple of acting classes and that's pretty much what
you have to do, not in the sense of literally injuring yourself (that
wouldn't work with me anyway, sinse I'm more likely o get mad and swear a
lot than cry), but in the sense of imagining vividly a point in your life
where you've felt whatever emotion was in question.

I've not quite got my control to the point where I can literally cry on

Hi Lori,

Lol! Well, I guess you'll just have to fake it, and if you really want to
cry for some authenticity I can think of some pretty nasty solutions for
that such as slam your hand in the car door, hit one of your fingers with
a hammer, or perhaps trip and fall down the last few steps in your house.
:D

Note, this message is only a joke. No harm was seriously intended. This
message will now self-destruct.

Cheers!

Re: [Audyssey] Sarah, the game

2012-04-29 Thread dark

Hi Tom.

I think with ons tage adrenaline I possibly could learn to cry on demand,
but the problem for a singer is how much it affects your voice, most singers
I've seen don't actually cry even when they're acting, but at the most let
the voice go rather husky, which I know how to do already. Amusingly enough,
one lady at the music school i went to told my mum she was apparently sorry
I had a guide dog sinse there was less chance of me walking into something
and she wanted to learn a few new swear words :D. She was joking of course.

Generally though it's myself I'm angry at at those moments, not necessarily
anything in the way for making such an error. The Japanese I'm told have an
expression said with great venom when something goes wrong, chimata! meaning
I made a mistake! which is quite often what my meaning is with the
swearing, - though of course the Japanese have plenty of actual swear
words as well :D.

When i learnt spanish I asked my teacher what the spanish for bloody hell
was so that I could swear in the right language when i forgot my vocab. No
bloody, but inferno with the rolling spanish r felt quite satisfying to
say :D.

Phil has a major update in the works for Sarah that will hopefully be out
sometime this year, but the last update was released in 2009. So if you
want to try the game download and install the main setup file, then
download and install the patch. That will give you a couple of levels to
try out. In my opinion it is by far one of my fave five games .However, if

Re: [Audyssey] Sarah, the game

2012-04-28 Thread Phil Vlasak

Hi,
I originally developed the Sarah game with all synthesized voices to save
time and money.

I have been gradually replacing the synthesized voices with human ones.
First to change was the voice of Sarah, then came the caretaker, and Sarah's
father as a howler.
I felt that the humans in the game should sound human but did not feel the
same for some of the ghosts, goblin and Dobby the house elf.
I have animal voices for fang and Fluffy thanks to my dogs, and a bird sound
for the phoenix and cat sounds for Mrs. Noris and the

cat pictures.
I used my own voice for the eagle painting, the king frog and the
headmaster.
I used the sound of a baby crying for the troll and a real british woman
trying to imitate the Fat lady.

In the update I have many more human voices that you can hear when reviewing
the sounds.

Here is a list of the new human voices:
bloody baron.
divination-teacher.
Grop.
Helena the grey lady.
Mrs. honeyduke.
olivander.
peter.
the sphinx.
Cadogan the knight.
Merperson voice of the Golden egg.
bob ogden in the basen.
and finally the bus conductor.

Hi Paulette,
I last updated the Sarah game in 2009, but I am working on a full update
that I hope to release sometime in the next few months.
In the earlier update I did add a few spells and in the new update I added
some more.
In the original game the goal was just to get out of the castle, but in the
update I am working on, there will be several goals.
You can download and try out the current version that allows you to explore
two floors of the castle free.
The reason for the two downloads on the download site is that I decided not
to update the full version as it would take over a week to do that and
meanwhile I would have to update the full version anyway because of the new
levels and files I'm adding to the game.

The full current version is almost 300 MB so it should be downloaded and
installed first.
Then the patch should be downloaded and installed second to add the new
spells and to fix some bugs.

Hi paulette.

The changes to the game are in the patch file, not on the page, so download

while Sarah is a fantastic game, I will say that the audio first person
navigation it requires, along with the large amount of sounds do make it one
of the more complex games to play, and if your not as familiar with computer
games generally you might considder trying something simpler and first

This isn't to say don't try sarah, the game is great, and the navaids are

Hi Paulette,

Phil has a major update in the works for Sarah that will hopefully be out
sometime this year, but the last update was released in 2009. So if you
want to try the game download and install the main setup file, then download
and install the patch. That will give you a couple of levels to try out. In
my opinion it is by far one of my fave five games .However, if you aren't
very experienced with audio games the game could be a bit daunting as it has
a full 2d first-person perspective which some blind gamers have difficulty
with at first.

Cheers!

Re: [Audyssey] Sarah, the game

2012-04-28 Thread Phil Vlasak

In the earlier update I did add a few spells and in the new update I added

In the original game the goal was just to get out of the castle, but in the

You can download and try out the current version that allows you to explore
two floors of the castle free.
The reason for the two downloads on the download site is that I decided not
to update the full version as it would take over a week to do that and
meanwhile I would have to update the full version anyway because of the new
levels and files I'm adding to the game.

The full current version is almost 300 MB so it should be downloaded and
installed first.
Then the patch should be downloaded and installed second to add the new
spells and to fix some bugs.

 Hi paulette.

The changes to the game are in the patch file, not on the page, so
download the game and run the patch to have the latest one.

while Sarah is a fantastic game, I will say that the audio first
person navigation it requires, along with the large amount of sounds
do make it one of the more complex games to play, and if your not as
familiar with computer games generally you might considder trying
something simpler and first person such as shades of doom, gma tank
commander (both of which have demos), or terraformers (which is
 actually free now).

This isn't to say don't try sarah, the game is great, and the navaids
are more than up to the task, only that you possibly might want to
approach the game with caution so as to get the most out of it, if
it's not one of a style you've experienced before.

 All the best,

 Dark.

Hi Paulette,
You don't have to download anything yet.
Once you purchase the game through Draconis, they will email me the
confirmation and I will send you a registration key.
You should notice the 4 digit number spoken at the beginning of the game.
That number is required for creating your registration key.

That key will unloack all the other levels of the castle.
Of course when the update to the game is released, you will want to
download that too.
I plan to have it use the same registration key so it will cost you no more
money, just the time to download and install it.
I also plan to have it go to a different folder so you can play either
version if you wish.

Re: [Audyssey] Sarah, the game

2012-04-27 Thread Phil Vlasak

Phil

Hi Phil,

I am thinking about purchasing Sarah, but I am confused. It looks to me as
if you haven't updated your page about the patch and the game since 2009.
I

could be wrong about that. Does the patch include all of the changes you
describe, such as the potion kit, the moving of the kitchen door, 2 new
spells and so forth? Does the patch have a price? Can I hear a demo?
Thanks

for your help. The game sounds absolutely wonderful.

Re: [Audyssey] Sarah, the game

2012-04-27 Thread dark

Hi paulette.

The changes to the game are in the patch file, not on the page, so download
the game and run the patch to have the latest one.

while Sarah is a fantastic game, I will say that the audio first person
navigation it requires, along with the large amount of sounds do make it one
of the more complex games to play, and if your not as familiar with computer
games generally you might considder trying something simpler and first
person such as shades of doom, gma tank commander (both of which have
demos), or terraformers (which is actually free now).

This isn't to say don't try sarah, the game is great, and the navaids are
more than up to the task, only that you possibly might want to approach the
game with caution so as to get the most out of it, if it's not one of a
style you've experienced before.

All the best,

Dark.

Re: [Audyssey] Sarah, the game

2012-04-27 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi Paulette,

Phil has a major update in the works for Sarah that will hopefully be
out sometime this year, but the last update was released in 2009. So if
you want to try the game download and install the main setup file, then
download and install the patch. That will give you a couple of levels to
try out. In my opinion it is by far one of my fave five games .However,
if you aren't very experienced with audio games the game could be a bit
daunting as it has a full 2d first-person perspective which some blind
gamers have difficulty with at first.

Cheers!
