I've been giving this a lot of thought. As the complexity of the game
increases, the message buffer problem gets worse and worse. I think the
solution may be to look at the concept of the time line. Rather than trying
to keep things in real time, perhaps we should just move one message at a
time
We do have a key to flush the buffer actually. The tilde/guave key (~) will
pull the next message from the buffer. You can keep pressing it until it makes
a noise to indicate that there are no more messages in reserve.
Holding shift and pressing guave/tilde brings up the general message menu.
