I think it is very unlikely that new versions will be released, so the
only maintenance would be fixing compilation issues or
incompatibilities that may appear in the future. There was never a
trigger for me to really investigate that package further, so I can't

Great! You can bump the version, fix its open bugs via PR.
And if you want to do this in the long term, you add your self to the
maintainer list and will get all bug tickets.

I suggest you to join the IRC channel #gentoo-proxy-maint to discuss all

I'm trying to avoid becoming the de facto maintainer of the thirty or
so apache modules that I care nothing about. The eclasses I posted to
the bug are a proof-of-concept for www-apache/mpm_itk, but even that
has a workaround allowing it to use EAPI=7 now. I haven't tested them
with any other packages.

Updating apache-module-r1.eclass to EAPI=8 still requires some work,
and then the whole thing needs to be tested by migrating a
representative chunk of apache-module packages to determine if the
idea is feasible as-is, or if the approach needs to be tweaked. Until
then we'd just be wasting reviewers' time.

I may eventually get bored enough to do all that testing, but right
now I have a lot of things that are actually enjoyable and/or make me
money in front of it on my list.

It would be great if you could dust these off and post them here so we
can get these improvements merged. You mention in the bug that you'd
rather wait for a dedicated maintainer to review them, but I'm (in
name) that maintainer and I think you probably know these eclasses
better than I do. With some joint effort we may get things moving here.

Given that this eclass is only used by the www-servers/apache ebuilds
I'd think it would be obvious who maintains it. I've updated the

If anyone is interested, I posted updates/replacements for the other

typescript is a build dependency and pop-shell is it's only revdep.

However, there are plenty of typescript users and package is popular.
Yes, it's npm package, but it's unique because it has no external deps.
Easy to maintain too, no bugs open, only dependency is nodejs[npm]
May use eapi8 bump.

As for pop-shell, bump will require packaging 2 extra deps:
pop-launcher
pop-shortcuts
Both are rust, the latter uses justfile instead of makefile.
It also uses rustls with ring crate, which is not portable and had no
commits since april 2022.

So my recommendation is to drop pop-shell or move to guru.
And keep typescript in repo, it's popular.

Thanks for reading!

I would like to take both packages. Latest bump for pure-ftpd was already done

This is the fwupd stack.

I'm tempted for these but I only have one machine which uses them.

I'll see if anyone else is a better set of hands first.

Sorry, I'd assumed libjcat was here as it's AFAIK only useful really for fwupd,
but it wasn't in the original list.

But may still be relevant if interested in fwupd. Would need to speak to

A second pair of hands on the whole lot (I have always co-maintained
dev-libs/libjcat with poly-c, and had already added myself to
sys-apps/fwupd before the for-grabs call went out due to having observed
my ticket for it having been dropped to m-n; will add myself to the rest
shortly) will definitely be welcome! They have, sadly, been a bit
neglected of late.

Hi Hanno,

We've decided to for the time being shelf Mailman completely.  We're
just about done (should go live with test clients this afternoon)
implementing an alternative that we've built in-house to more accurately
accommodate for our use-case in any case.

I would recommend proceeding to last-rite Mailman and related packages.

Hi Hanno,

I've started looking at this mess.  And a mess it is.  To the point,
where for our somewhat "subset of what mailman provides" requirements
I'm contemplating rather cooking an in-house solution (have done similar
in the past, but none of these really provide everything we require),
but will get back to you.

In the current state mailman3 as it is in tree I don't think it's usable
in any sensible way (Unless I'm really missing something), so if I go
another route I recommend we last-rite it and move on.  If I do pick it
up on it, then the problem is solved either way.

createrepo_c depends on this, willing to grab it purely for that.
rpmdevtools is the other big consumer - kensington - you willing to
handle this one?

> net-libs/iax

I believe this can be last rited.  This is a voice package but I can't
find consumers, nor does it look useful as is (no .so being installed,
and otherwise it's just a pkg-config style iax-config, but references
not-installed libiax).  I thus believe the package looks to be broken.
Adding last-rite.

Potentially useful.  Will look into this.  For now I'll mark myself as
proxymaintainer.  If someone else wants to grab instead, please feel
free to do so.  I may end up last-riting this, so if there are users of
this, please let me know, or just grab the package.

In principle I'm interested in proxy-maintaining this but do not have

The current ebuild has little special stuff so probably also works for
the #763024 bump without much change - though I'd like to rework the
rather messy database USE logic..

Since this message made it to some news websites, I'd like to send a
follow-up with a positive resolution.

tdesktop have finally found a caring person and is now proxy-maintained.
we've got an update that fixes quite a lot of issues, including audio
call crashes under some conditions and work on unbundling critical libraries is
in progress.
it will remain in the tree, I'm proxying and still testing it on
non-amd64 arches (forcing SSE2 is not nice).

stabilization of new versions will happen sooner than later.

Have a nice day ;-)

This is now more urgent due to bug 766297, dev-db/percona-xtrabackup-8.0.13
w/ dev-libs/icu-68.2: sql/mysqld.cc:6633:30: error: ‘TRUE’ was not declared in
this scope.
https://bugs.gentoo.org/766297

Which makes current latest ~arch version impossible to build. A new maintainer
needs to bump to a new version with a fix or it will be treecleaned.
