Hello, I've been maintaining several Doom packages, but recently as I've picked up more projects outside of Gentoo I have been pushing maintenance of these Doom packages lower and lower on my To-Do list. I don't want them to stay neglected, and since I don't see myself giving these packages the attention they require, I'm offering them up for a new maintainer: games-fps/chocolate-doom games-fps/freedm games-fps/freedm-data games-fps/freedoom games-fps/freedoom-data games-fps/gzdoom games-fps/prboom-plus games-util/deutex The chocolate-doom package has a lot of patches under the files directory, but all of these should go away when version 3.1.0 is released by upstream.[^1] The freedm, freedm-data, freedoom, and freedoom-data packages are closely related and share the same installation source; they should all be updated at the same time for each release. There is already a Gentoo bug open for the version 0.13.0 release.[^2] The maintainer of these packages should also consider maintaining the deutex package which is used to build the WAD files. The gzdoom package already has a Gentoo bug open for the version 4.11.3 release, which will require adding a new dependency on the media-libs/libwebp package.[^3] Two other Gentoo bugs[^4] are open regarding musl support (which upstream does not support). Upstream can sometimes be difficult to work with as they prefer users download the prebuilt binaries, use the bundled libraries, etc. -- philosophies that naturally clash with Gentoo ideals. However, they do accept patches so it's not all bad, and more recently vesion bumps have been pretty smooth with no need to send patches upstream. The prboom-plus package technically has a Gentoo bug open for a 2.6.66 version bump[^5], but upstream considers the project superseded by dsda-doom[^6] project. [gentoo-dev] Packages up for grabs: app-office/gtg, media-video/celluloid, dev-python/liblarch
Hello, The following packages are up for grabs or currently more active co- maintainers: * app-office/gtg and its accompanying support library * dev-python/liblarch They currently need py3.11 support and some looking at open bugs about tests. It's a Getting Things Done app. * media-video/celluloid celluloid has had some proxy maintainers interest, but no-one concrete taking action seems to have surfaced until now. It needs a version bump and is generally low effort gtk4 GUI for mpv. There's a PR open for a version bump, but I believe there is now a newer version out there than that. In all of these cases I'm happy to stay on as a backup maintainer if the package adopter wishes, but can't currently actively give them the attention they deserve. Mart

With some joint effort we may get things moving here. I'm trying to avoid becoming the de facto maintainer of the thirty or so apache modules that I care nothing about. The eclasses I posted to the bug are a proof-of-concept for www-apache/mpm_itk, but even that has a workaround allowing it to use EAPI=7 now. I haven't tested them with any other packages. Updating apache-module-r1.eclass to EAPI=8 still requires some work, and then the whole thing needs to be tested by migrating a representative chunk of apache-module packages to determine if the idea is feasible as-is, or if the approach needs to be tweaked. Until then we'd just be wasting reviewers' time. I may eventually get bored enough to do all that testing, but right now I have a lot of things that are actually enjoyable and/or make me money in front of it on my list.

If anyone is interested, I posted updates/replacements for the other two apache eclasses on https://bugs.gentoo.org/616612. Merging those should ideally be accompanied by an update to apache-2.eclass, making it use the paths from the new apache-paths.eclass, so that everyone is getting the paths from the same place.

Back when polynomial-c was retired, we forgot to send up for grabs for eclasses he maintained: apache-2.eclass is up for grabs, and is in general need of a revamp, it hasn't aged well. signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part

[gentoo-dev] Packages up for grabs: telepathy related packages
GNOME 43 will no longer need these packages. They seem to be in varying states of decay upstream. - net-im/telepathy-connection-managers - net-libs/farstream - net-libs/sofia-sip - net-libs/telepathy-farstream - net-voip/telepathy-gabble - net-voip/telepathy-rakia - net-voip/telepathy-salut These are maintained upstream, but GNOME 43 doesn't need them. gstreamer@ was a backup (and is now the primary) maintainer of media-plugins/gst-plugins-libnice, so it should probably take over net-libs/libnice as well. - media-plugins/gst-plugins-libnice - net-libs/libnice I've dropped gnome@ as a maintainer of all of these packages. signature.asc Description: PGP signature
