The current way things are going is to use compositing window managers

This problem comes up with both firefox and vlc, and I have seen it in

maybe you can start the X without using the vboxvideo driver. that is
what i did. actually i did not know we have a vboxvideo driver, so i
just used the vesa, and it works very well. i can even enable the 3d

Hi. What driver are you using with your graphic cart? Try
x11-drivers/xf86-video-intel-2.1.1, but this driver works bad with
compiz. But you get better performance.
Intel developers rework their driver and provoke this problems with
performance. Soon there will be all good.

I'm curious if anyone else is seeing something similar?
Hi Roy,
By your wording I'd assume that Lancelot was fine with version 4.2.0? Are you
having trouble with any other plasmoids? I get similar behaviour with some of
the eye-candy compiz-style plugins, but Lancelot itself is
your main machine,
and rsync the changes back to the EEE, saving a LOT of compile time.
Simple, fast (you don't want the EEE to compile X and compiz stuff, it
is really slow). And you save the space, cause you don't need to rsync
the portage tree and/or kernel sources, etc.

I thought that I downgrade the system to kde-3.5 and I will make an

You're right, but at least I explicitly left out the "Pro" (it's *not* an MBP)

I thought I'd try out the new i810 driver for my intel card (IBM X41 Tablet)
and while most of X seems to work just fine, even with compiz, mplayer is
just plain busted (see mplayer output followed by xvinfo output below) in
that it shows a black window (window decorations are intact, but

2) Some combinations of intel drivers + intel card + xorg-1.5 + kernel
do not behave properly. My card used to go over 800 fps with glxgears,
and now, with the new drivers and xorg, I'm stuck around 300, general
performance is no better. Its a shame, had to drop compiz-fusion, for
example. I hope for better support on new releases of intel driver.
