I have verified the failure and am working on a fix. I am confused about
something though. Why does the jar collector run on a normal mvn
install? The point of it seems to be to copy all the jars and put them
in a single directory. If that is the case it should be part of another
phase, not the ins
Hi Martin - your careful review is much needed :-)
ReferencedEnvelope was introduced a long long time ago; it used to be an
inner class of JTS. I admit that email discussion was brief at the time.
The only other Hack I know of this nature (where a compromise was made

Andrea I am also having trouble with the new upgrade - cannot get the
maven-plugin-plugin for love or money. I will continue to try.
I am still waiting to hear back from anyone that has it working and has
tried the two targets we need for the release process to work.
Cheers,
Jody

My opinion may be biased because I'm a very slow guy and maybe too
perfectionist, but maybe the geotools stability problem is caused at least
partially by code commited too fast without suffisient effort for making it
future proof. Example:
org.geotools.geometry.jts.ReferencedEnvelope

Bah it is mostly Cory - he has been great. Remember to buy him a beer at

Really I have just sent email out in the last couple days because Cory
is going on holiday.

Thanks for Volunteering - Simone I assume you have contacted the student
by now?
Martin do you want to change that page (remove the ?) and you may want
to drop an email in the direction of the student to say hi. We do not
expect anything major to happen until May 28th - but some students may

Thanks Adrian :-)
The recent GeoTools meeting kind of indicated we wanted the students
cast on the mercy of the development list. OSGeo has asked us to have
two contact persons for each student.
I placed some names on that wiki page ... if you see a project that has
a mentor listed with a "?"

In GeoServer, we always make sure our "stable" branch is on a geotools
"stable" branch. For example, GeoServer 1.5.x is based on Geotools
2.3.x. We do not allow any changes to api on s
Hello Frank, Jody, Landon and all ...
this is exactly what my problem was back in 2004! .. imagine an
impressible powerful graphic user interface for editing (jump) but not
using the all the power of geotools ... still things were/are not that

Absolutely agreed.

Hey Jody and SoC folk,
Despite you each being swamped with stuff, thanks for putting in this
work to get things going. Google is smart to spend a bit of money on the
SoC; it's fantastic that you each put in work to let OSGeo projects
benefit.

They were some recent attempts toward more stability. The splitting of Geotools
into "library" and "unsupported" modules on trunk (2.4) is a (not very old) step
in this direction. This is surely not suffisient, but I have some hope that it
is possible to find some other idea with time that may impr

Hey Jody,
I'm willing to help although calling myself a mentor is probably
overselling my knowledge and skills. If you give us the names of the
poor souls we could keep an eye out for their mails to the list and try
to respond especially promptly to their requests.
