Hi Landon,
needless to say, all of the modules you are talking about are quite
nice and of interest at least to me.
I would surely make good use of it in the uDig processing toolbox :)
But I would not be able to do more then testing on this.
Good luck!

Hi lists,
first of all, I apologize for cross-posting.
We have collected some ideas for Google Summer Of Code 2009 to improve
GeoTools capabilities (like, as an instance, supporting more raster formats,
H2 spatial indexing, Ground Control Points support on GeoTiff, ...).
People that are interested

Sure, but tomorrow since here it's 4 am and I better get some sleep soon :-)

Thanks Simone - I'll come up with some words for the SoC page today.
Is it possible to get a copy of your JAI code ?

Ciao Michael,
raster contouring/polygonalization is something I have been wanting to
add to geotools for a while. I actually have some JAI based code which
I did not write but that has been quite useful in the past. It would
be nice to try and integrate it into geotools.
Anyway, I would suggest yo
Hi Simone,
I hadn't heard of the summer of code program - it sounds great !
Re the raster polygonization topic - I'm fiddling with some code for
this with one of my own apps and I've also been looking at some grass
code ported from C by Andrea Aime that I got with help of Andrea
Antonello.

Hi Simone; you listed "Accepted Projects" at the start of that page;
when I am pretty sure you mean "Sample Ideas"? Until the students
actually supply ideas on their own we cannot really start assigning
mentors etc...
(can we remove this section before Monday rolls around?)

Hello!
I'm Daniele Romagnoli the student working on the SOC proposal about
geotools/imageIO plugin for nD-rasters data sources.
Actually, I gathered some documentation on HDF and I begun analyzing and
testing HDF Java products.
Furthermore, I started analyzing the Martin's work at

Cool. About datastore caching, I did dump some ideas months ago on a
wiki page, it may be of interest for you too:

Hi guys,

One day left!

A heads up to any students out there: applications for the Google Summer
of Code close in just a few days. There are a number of open source
geospatial projects taking part with OSGeo as the mentoring organization.
This is really a sweet deal -- Google will pay you to work on an open

What about DWG?
Why do you chosen this format (It is rather usefull for CAD Geometries
than for GIS )"
I know about the DXF plug-in and have looked at the code. I've even

Good timing - we were talking about this very topic in todays GeoTools

What we initial need however is someone on the "admin" side to get the
OSGeo effort underway; perhaps provide a template for "
