I can provide feedback on filterfactory2.
The idea is that FilterFactory limits you to only making perfectly valid
filters. So any work you are doing for WFS2.0 will probably end up here.

Does WFS have the concept of a fallback value like Symbology Encoding? It
troubles me that we don't have a way to capturing this as part of FilterFactory
(as even correctly created functions require a fallback value when evaluating
in contexts outside
