Please install UFRaw to be able to open RAW images  such as  DNG and PEF.

The latest installer for Windows appears to be
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ufraw/files/ufraw/ufraw-0.19.2/ufraw-0.19.2-2-setup.exe/download.

On Linux you can simply install it from your packages repository.

Mac build by Karine used to ship UFRaw by default, as far as I can tell.

[Gimp-docs] bugzilla project updated

Hi,

'GIMP-manual' product on bugzilla now has v2.10 version that bug
reports can be filed against.

At this point I need your input. Since the work on updating the user
manual should start about now, which of the options below would you
prefer?

1. Use http://wiki.gimp.org/wiki/Release:2.10_changelog to create bug
reports on every missing feature or update, then 'take' a bug (needs
developer status on bugzilla for the product), and close it as
RESOLVED FIXED once it's done.

2. Create a new wiki page similar to
http://wiki.gimp.org/wiki/Hacking:Porting_file_plugins_to_GEGL and
track the progress there (needs a wiki account).

Maybe there's an even better option? Please let me know.

[Gimp-docs] the upcoming branching of 2-8 docs

Hello,

Following recent call for 2.10 docs update [1] we'd like to inform you
that we expect to create a new branch of v2.8 docs at the end of this
week, so we kindly ask you to submit all your changes before Saturday.

You will still be able to push changes to the 2-8 branch (we expect
people to keep using 2.8 within the next few years for all sorts of
reasons), but it won't get rebuilt as often as the master branch
(v2.10 docs). We haven't yet decided on the exact frequency of
rebuilds for either 2-8 or the master branch though.

Once the 2-8 branch is created, all work in the master branch will be
focused on updating the user manual for the upcoming v2.10 release.
Once the update is complete, we'll announce strings freeze so that
translators would have a margin to do their work in time for the v2.10
release, because we'd really like to kill off the gap between software
and documentation releases.

Some other expected changes are a subject for a separate email.

quite a lot of information that is either missing or in need for an

Oh, and two more things.

1. The git repository URL depends on your access level. If you have an
account with GNOME, you probably already know which one you need. If
you don't, and you want to be able to push changes yourself, you need
a GNOME account.

2. I find it difficult to recommend to translate Git master right now.
We recently started documenting upcoming GIMP 2.10, and that means
that things are in flux. Some or many of your translations may become
obsolete (it's hard to say now). At the same time, translating the
'gimp-help-2-8' branch is probably not desirable either, because we
are not planning any new help releases for GIMP 2.8. So it's up to you
which branch you want to translate.

Hi Julien,

Jehan who developed this feature (and isn't subscribed to this list)
asked me to pass this on:

"When you transform the drawing, the brush itself will end up
transformed as well. For instance, in a mirror transform, not only
will your drawing on the right of the canvas be mirrored on the left,
but the brush itself is obviously "flipped" on the left.
If for some reason, you wanted the drawn lines to be mirrored (or
other transformation) but not the brush outline itself, you could
check this box.

For obvious reason, you won't see it with symmetrical brushes though.
That's likely why you don't see the effect because many default
brushes are symmetrical."

Yes, definitely!

Personally, I think that both "Getting Started" and "How do I Become a
GIMP Wizard?" sections need revisiting, because a lot of chapters from
the latter one belong to the foremr one really.

Moreover, the user manual is still missing updates for the upcoming
v2.10. Julien Hardelin would be a better judge of that though.

https://gitlab.gnome.org/profile/keys, when you are logged in.

But since you registered a new account rather than updating your
existing GNOME LDAP's account, you probably need to request git push
access to the repository.

those in over 20 years :)

How can we _still_ not have them when you did not provide an example of
what they would look like? :)

We have experience making regulatory kind of documents per request. We can
do these ones too. if we know what they are and have examples.
