Re: [Gimp-user] GIMP won't support installed printer?

2007-02-28 Thread Andy Coulson

It's the same in Ubuntu 6.10 (edgy) -
Gutenprint is described as gimp-print version 5.0.0-2ubuntu2. Note
that there is a seperate cupsys driver for it at the same version level

And still, when I select to print from within GIMP, it and click the
button that says "About", it says I'm using "GIMP-Print 4.2".

So, as far as I can tell, I've done everything to install Gutenprint on
my system, but GIMP isn't giving me any indication that it's using the
latest Gutenprint drivers.

I don't know Ubuntu, but in Debian (which is similar) there is a
package called gimp-print which is at version 5.0.0-3 right now and
contains the print plugin for Gimp. What version do you have
installed?

Re: [Gimp-user] Automated sequence of actions with keyboard shortcuts? [SOLVED]

2007-02-28 Thread saulgoode
Quoting Sven Neumann [EMAIL PROTECTED]:

You can write scripts for 2.2 now and continue to use them with future
GIMP versions. The plug-in and scripting API is backwards compatible. I
wonder why the example script even goes through the hassle of trying to
 deal with versions.

A valid point. I just dislike deprecation warnings popping up and I
was rushing things a bit.

Quoting David Gowers [EMAIL PROTECTED]:

The script as defined above produces an antialiased fill, which is naturally
the opposite of aliased (aliasing is stairstepping, and antialiasing
counteracts it.). If an aliased (ie. hard-edged) rendering were preferable,
(gimp-selection-sharpen image) would be needed before bucket filling.

'gimp-selection-sharpen' is unnecessary because anti-aliasing was
disabled (the argument set to FALSE) in the 'gimp-path-to-selection'
call.

Re: [Gimp-user] Pan Tool keyboard shortcut

2007-02-28 Thread Matthias Julius
Dave M G [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes:

 Claus,

 Thanks for responding.

you can pan by clicking on the middle mouse button (MMB) and then
moving the cursor, which changes to a hand, around the image.
Actually, I had noticed that. But I don't use a mouse, I use a pen
tablet, and the equivalent button on the pen stylus is not conveniently
 placed.

So I had hoped that I could make a keyboard shortcut to the same action
that the middle mouse button does, but it seems that it's not possible.

It looks like the only way to get panning from the keyboard is to wait
 for GIMP version 2.4.

Here (Gimp 2.2.0, Windows) I can pan using the cursor buttons. Cursor
pans in small increments (pixels) and shift + cursor pans in large
increments (window width/height). Doesn't it do the same on Linux?

[Gimp-user] Gimp 2.3 with Fink on OSX?

I installed the latest gimp-2.0 with fink on Mac OSX...is there a
development version of the latest Gimp - 2.6 available?

I thought I had installed the gimp2-dev but this 2.0.6 is the version
that was installed.

Hi Anthony,

gimp-app.sf.net is an excellent source to grep a prebuild an
prepackaged version of the most recent stable version of GIMP.
To get hands on an unstable version is a bit more complicated. I'm
running one on OS X, build with an unreleased ports file for darwin
ports (http://darwinports.opendarwin.org/getdp/). Unfortunately some
more important packages like gtk2 are not available in a recent
version in fink, but in darwin ports only. If you want to be one of
the brave, I can send you the ports file by mail.

Greetings, lexA

Thanks, I switched to the darwin ports version and got 2.3.14 installed :)

The fink version crashed when I tried to use the text toolplus it
was an older version.

[Gimp-user] Changed the Font of eps files

2007-02-28 Thread Daniel Botelho
Hi Gimper's

When I open eps files in Gimp, the fonts change from Times New Roman to
something similar to Courier. Can anyone help here? I would like to keep
the Times New Roman.

Just to add another note, when I open the fonts Dialog Times New Roman
is not listed in the drop-down menu.

Thanks,

Daniel.

Re: [Gimp-user] Pan Tool keyboard shortcut

2007-02-28 Thread Dave M G
Matthias,

Thank you for responding.

Here (Gimp 2.2.0, Windows) I can pan using the cursor buttons. Cursor
pans in small increments (pixels) and shift + cursor pans in large
increments (window width/height). Doesn't it do the same on Linux?

I wasn't aware of this before, as I'm still very new to GIMP (if that
wasn't already obvious).

Thanks for pointing this out to me. It's a workable solution until a
keyboard shortcut for a pan tool becomes available.

The first thing I did after testing the arrow keys was to see if it was
possible to adjust the increments of motion, as one pixel at a time is a
little slow and window width/height is a kind of jarring. But I couldn't
find any interface to adjust this in the preferences.
