Netscape has very ropey support for PNG format images.
Save as GIF?
(I know that's not really a fix, but it's that or one of those awful
"You need ot use IE to view this webpage" popups. Yuk.

:)

Maybe, but why not throw more RAM at it.
That fixes nearly everything GUI-related...

Isn't there an option somewhere to set a tile cache?
Crank that up.

Not sure that's the case, you'll probably need a

-march=pentium-pro

in your CFLAGS.
(maybe without the hyphen - man gcc should tell you what it accepts.)

Although most modern chips are optimized to run i386 code well,
you may find some programs work better on PPRo

You can use filters on RGB :)
Always convert any images you're working with to rgb before touching them,
tweak away then save back to indexed if need be (i.e. for GIFs)

Mozix is like Beowulf, is it?

I imagine you'd need to rewrite big lumps of GIMP specially for it,
so in theory yes, in practice life's too short.

Although there *is* a version of POVRAY written to use PVM
(one of the key Beowulf components)

Plus denying mail on the basis of HELO is a violation of the RFCs
(and is so easily spoofed it's a waste of time anyway)
