I got this message when installing 1.1.24 and 1.1.29. I think that it
means that you will not be able to Script-Fu's to Perls. I haven't
missed this function yet. Perhaps you won't either.

The rest of the perl plugins work, however. When you start it up the
first time, look to see if you have more than one option in "Guides".
That's my quick and dirty way to see if the perl is working with the
 gimp or not.

I have had some problems with this, I think, when I log in as a user and

log in as root and install gtk. (I think)

Also running "/sbin/ldconfig" does wonders for helping ./configure find
gtk. But not always. If you have an old version of gtk around--get rid
 of it or hide it.

Compiling version 1.2.0

2000-12-29 Thread Gerald Brosseau

I can't pass the "configure" stage with version 1.2.0, for a strange
raison,
I have glib 1.2.8 and gtk 1.2.8 installed but there is no "gtk-config"
script
on my machine (Linux - Mandrake 7.2 - P-III 800mhz - 128M)

*** Could not run GTK test program, checking why...
*** The test program failed to compile or link. See the file config.log
for the
*** exact error that occured. This usually means GTK was incorrectly
installed
*** or that you have moved GTK since it was installed. In the latter
case, you
*** may want to edit the gtk-config script: /etc/gtk/bin/gtk-config
configure: error: Test for GTK failed. See the file 'INSTALL' for help.

so I tried to remove "gtk" files and
to re-compile the gtk package but then I can't again with the message:

checking for GLIB - version = 1.2.8... yes
checking for X... no
configure: error:
*** X libraries or include files not found. Check 'config.log' for
*** more details.

and then configure failed, anyone can help me ???

Re: GIMP 1.1.20 Perl

2000-04-23 Thread Gerald Brosseau

I'm runnig Mandrake 6.2, with glib-1.2.7, gtk+-1.2.7, Gtk-Perl-0.6123 and Perl
5.005_03 !

What do I need to upgrade ?

  'ppport.h' file on my system

Depending on what you're running now and what you're trying to do - you'll
probably need to upgrade quite a few things. I started with the redhat6.1
distribution and had to upgrade glib, gtk, Gtk-Perl, Gimp-Perl, PDL before I
could get 1.1.19 to build cleanly. This is not a simple or pleasant
experience, BTW - I would not do this upgrade on any machine running mission
 critical stuff.

(FWIW, ppport.h comes with PDL-2.003 and Gtk-Perl-0.6123, but I suspect
you'll encounter more problems w/o a full lib upgrade. The INSTALL notes
might edify, in a convoluted fashion)

I can't compile the 1.1.19 version with the Perl support, even if I have Perl
