[Gimp-user] Unlocking pixels and alpha channel

2014-03-29 Thread Leslie Simmons
I managed to lock both the pixels and the alpha channel on an image; how do
I unlock them? They don't seem to toggle on and off like the layer lock
does. I've Googled and gotten lots of things about how to lock, but nothing
on how to undo it. Thanks for any tips.

[Gimp-user] Unlocking, part 2

2014-03-29 Thread Leslie Simmons
Well, for some reason, clicking and holding the locked elements for several
seconds, and then dragging the cursor away from them, managed to unlock
them.

[Gimp-user] Saving Image other Than in .xcf format

2014-03-29 Thread Randhir Phagura
Hi all,

I find that to save an image in .jpg format one has to 'export' or 'export
as' to a file-name.jpg. But after doing that when I wish to exit GIMP, it
says ,'There is one image with unsaved changes' and the window declaring
that has no 'save; button. Then how does one save the seemingly 'unsaved
image'?

Regards,

By default GIMP now expects you to 'save' your image as a .xcf and
'export' to another format, so as you close the image GIMP is reminding
you that you haven't 'saved' your image or image changes in .xcf format.

[Gimp-user] Help not working - installed

2014-03-29 Thread violetriver
I downloaded the HELP package from
http://mirror.umd.edu/gimp/gimp/help/windows/2.8/2.8.1/ and installed it. When I
try to use it in GIMP I still get the message that I don't have HELP installed.

OS: Windows 7 home premium - service pack 1 - 2009

GIMP: 2.8.10

Can't access gimp.org today - anyone else having problems?

Thanx #%^)

[Gimp-user] flip / rotate a path?

2014-03-29 Thread Gary Aitken
Is there a way to flip / rotate a path the way you can a layer or image?
I need to make a path and then generate a mirror image of it.

You can use all the same tools but you have to tell it you are working
with a path instead of a layer or selection in the tool options.
These are the top 3 icons in the tool options beside the word
Transform:
It has Layer selected by default.

The only trick is if you want to transform just the path instead of the
entire layer. To do so you must use the path to selection option before
applying the transformation.

If you need more help just ask. I have some video tutorials that cover
this, but it's a part of a longer tutorial.

I need to make a path and then generate a mirror image of it.

Switch the respective transform tool to path mode, make the relevant
path visible and work with it...

Bye,
Simon

That turns out not to be the case. If you select a path, then select the
transform tool and select the path icon for what to Affect, it applies
only to the selected path.

You don't want to transform a path to a selection and then transform back
because you can get a lot of additional points on the path.
