Re: [Gimp-user] drawing pad
Probably any one that works with your system. A fast response time and pressure sensitivity are good. I have a 6.5" x 8.5" pad that I picked up at a warehouse sale that works very well for me. Not too small, not too big. You will be moving your whole arm across the surface, not just your hand. Re: [Gimp-user] Error in opening psd files
I think the clipping mask is the problem. Can you go back into PS and remove the clipping mask in the original file? That might solve the problem. Other than that, I’m at a loss. Hopefully one of the real gurus will chime in on this. Ross > On Sep 19, 2016, at 3:29 AM, enzoorsi wrote: > >> Did you use the “Open as layers” command? [Gimp-user] How to scan scan under Mac OS X El Capitan 10.11.5
Hi Stratadrake, I am very sad to hear that GIMP on Mac doesn't support direct scanning. I was very got used to this feature on Windows. In the User Manual of GIMP I can read that in the File directory one can find the Create -- > from Scanner button if there is an Image Capture device installed. But now coming back to your questions: -I tested the scanner feature on two scanners: -Samsung m2017 which is the scanner/printer http://www.samsung.com/de/business/support/model/SL-M2070FW/XEC -Canon Lide 210, which is the dedicated scanner https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/details/scanners/photo-scanner/canoscan-lide-210 In both cases I installed the newest version of the drivers and I can use the both scanners using Samsung/Canon tools, or Mac tools like Image Capture or printer/scanner from the settings-->printer/scanner. Both producers claim the drivers are TWAIN compatible. Maybe the community could develop this feature for MAC? Thank you and best regards Zig I was about to download the sane libraries to tackle the problem but then I saw that SANE doesn't support my backends. >If you're talking about the window and controls that appear when >you're configuring how you want it to be scanned (e.g. exposure, >brightness/contrast, crop area, etc.), this part actually *isn't* >GIMP's doing at all. Convert the animation to RGB mode. You got some of it correct. To add a new background, interleave the layers, then merge each pair down to a layer. Only 7 layers this time, you could do that manually or use a plugin. Once you got that working using Gimp to play the animation, (see foxy.xcf.gz) Now export as an animated gif. Do not try to be clever, set the delay, and use replace.(see: foxy.gif) Check that is working Now you can reopen the gif file and optimise it if required. Thank you for > considering my question. > The solution is simple. You have to add the text layer to any single frame of the original GIF file. This can be a bit tedious with GIMP, that's why I have a second tool at hand when it comes to automating procedures: ImageMagick (or GraphicsMagick). The following one-liner will annotate a text over each frame of an animated gif: $ convert input.gif -gravity center -fill black -annotate +1+1 "TEXT" output.gif You can format the text as you need with ImageMagick, see http://www.imagemagick.org/Usage/anim_mods/#annotating and the other examples. If you like it better to prepare a annotation frame within GIMP and put it onto each GIF frame, use this line: $ convert input.gif -coalesce -draw 'image SrcOver 1,1 0,0 text.png' output.gif The output.gif isn't optimized (meaning: all full frames). If you can't tolerate this, you can let ImageMagick re-optimize it before creating an output file. $ convert input.gif -coalesce -draw 'image SrcOver 1,1 0,0 text.png' -layers Optimize output.gif Note that may result in a bit of flicker around the text borders. You can play with the -layers options to reduce that. http://www.imagemagick.org/Usage/anim_opt/#overlay Or just stick with the non-optimized file. That one come without any flicker. Sorry for not having an easy solution with GIMP, but with ImageMagick (or GraphicsMagick) it's so damn simple you cannot beat it easily. [Gimp-user] Layer on top of a .gif
I have tried many ways to put a non-moving layer of text on top of a .gif image. So far, the best I can do is to add the text page to the moving image and have it flash.
