[Gimp-user] descreening plugin?

Are there any descreening plugins for the GIMP? I need to display some scanned images from printed material and would like to get rid of the dots if at all possible. I have a descreening filter on my scanner but it doesn't work very well. It needs some help. Thanks,

[Gimp-user] paste problem

When I cut from one layer and paste to another, GIMP pastes the selection in the center of the image instead of the same position where I cut it from on the previous layer. Is there a configuration switch somewhere that would change this behavior? Thanks, Wayne GIMP 2.2.4
