Re: [gina-users] digital clicks problem
What version of the driver are you using? This sounds like a known problem with the early drivers. Max level on the spdif input caused a 'wrap around' error as they put it. Try 2.05 available on the web site. If this is the reason then everthing you have recorded over spdif will have the stereo channels 1 sample out of phase too which is devastating to any kind of mono compatability (this includes most surround systems). I guess that Gina is such a great card, whats to complain about! However,I have a question for the list; My GIna is working perfectly in the Analogue domain, both for record and play - no complaints and the quality is great! However - when transferring to and from Dat in the digital domain, I am experiencing pops and clicks in the audio - now the strangeness of this problem is that the greater my .wav amplitude the greater and more frequent the clicks! On a silent passage it is perfect. This problem happens across all software platforms. ( I am using it in SAW Plus, CPA and Cool Edit) Previous to installing Gina I was doing perfect digital transference using my Adb Multiwav card, no problems like this. My system is optimised, in fact if it wasnt I am sure I'd be experiencing this same problem on the analogue side as well, which I am not. I have disabled the monitor on option on the Gina driver, makes no diff - am using it in professional mode, have the same problem when using different Dat machines - Anyone else experiencing this same problem? Have you tried switching its internal clock to S/pdif while transferring from and to the Dat player? alfredo -- Alfredo Pereira [EMAIL PROTECTED] Montevideo, Uruguay Reach me by ICQ. Re: [gina-users] digital clicks problem
Hey - thanks to all those who suggested solutions to my digital clicks problem... I have the latest drivers, 3.08, even tried it with earlier ones, same problem. I have tried it with alternating clock source between Internal and S/Pdif - no difference. Now this occurs on straight digital audio transferred from dat to PC before any editing is done on it so its not from splicing. Now the clicks are very faint, but are still audible - and there is also a noted difference in quality between the original audio off the Dat to the one that I record - there almost seems to be some sort of harshness, distortion even on the upper frequencies on the PC version - ( my levels are fine, this is not normal distortion) I am beginning to wonder whether this could be some sort of a dither problem on the 16 - 24bit input converters? Like I said, I get this problem no matter what Wav Application program I use so its not generic to any software. I also notice it seems to only happen when I transfer from Dat to PC, not the other way around. Any further suggestions, guys? Thanks! Trish
RE: [gina-users] digital clicks problem
Hey Trish, What program are you using to record into. I notice with Soundforge XP that there were regular clicks at intervals associated with caching or something. It even mentions this in the help file. Recording with Cool Edit Pro or Samplitude, you don't get the clicks. SF XP is apparently intended as an editor, not a recorder, and maybe this is true with other editors too? Fred Towne Having Fun With My Music http://www.peak.org/~townef
Re: [gina-users] digital clicks problem
I have the latest drivers, 3.08, even tried it with earlier ones, same problem. I've not tried 3.08 but I know that a bug which was fixed in 2.05c was present again in 3.05 so latest is not always best. All I know is that 2.05c solved a similar prob at this end. -- Love from Graham at the Ultimate Brain xxx http://www.FoS.Krass.com
