I need help solving a problem, pointers to existing solutions will be

You could also Version 2 of fips which supports fat32. This is what I
used to repartition my system. Although, after having used Partition
Magic in the past and now fips, I like Partition Magic much more.
Both utilities will do the job though.

I use SuSE, and did not have any trouble with either my 8.4GB when I
got it or my 20GB. For LILO purposes, as mentioned, the kernel and
friends need to be before the 1024th cylinder. For a while I had been
advocating using one big root partition, but for fsck purposes that may

I similarly installed RH 6.1 on my Athlon system at home this weekend. I
experienced the same thing. What I found was that I had to create the /
partition before the 1024 cylinder. On new systems that is before the
first 8.4gb of disk space. Installing after that the Linux kernel can
not boot up.
