Hi everyone,
I'm considering upgrading my computer to something faster to run GnuCash (I
have a pretty large database). So I'm looking for good single core performance.
Apple's M1 chip has good single core performance, but GnuCash needs Rosetta 2
to run (an emulator). Does anyone have hands on

Same here no problems on both Macs running Big Sur. No point in referring
us to your screenshot - remember as per John Ralls' reply it never made it
to the mailing list - in-line images don't work, you need to save it as a
file on your desktop and attach it to an email, that seems to work ok.
I seem to recall a bug about this in recent days, but cannot locate it now.

I upgraded from version 3.6 to version 4.6 and when I add a new price for a
stock it only takes 2 digits, previously I had 5 digits. How do I change it to
5 digits. I can’t find the screen to have it keep 5 digits. I enter the
price as 5 digits, but when I save it it coverts it to 2 digits.
hi David,
thanks for the reply,
I tried to change the precision as you noted. but it didn't help
some more info:
I am not using the online quotes option. I enter the prices manually every
weekend.
The issue started with version 4.6. in version 4.5 I didn't experience any
issue and it is the
In the price database the precision is individually set for each currency
or commodity. That is defined in the securities database using the
Security editor, normally when you initially define the currency or
security, tho you can change it later. If you are at the stage of entering

hi,
in the price database tool, I am trying to set a price of 1.0079 but it

a value of 1.0001 becomes 1
I tried to change the preferences -> numbers -> decimal point to 4/5/6
places, and also remove the "force prices to display as decimals"
but it didn't work

So the bottom line is that you have an income that must be assigned to an
income account in GnuCash and a cash deposit initially into your cash
drawer then into your bank thus it is assigned to the bank account in
GnuCash. That is a complete 'double entry' transaction.

Same here so far, and I’m on M1 as well.
There’s some other variable in your setup.

Billie,
I can read your frustration in your message(s). However, you're not helping
yourself with this message. Asking this group why gnucash is not like
quickbooks is like asking why a PC couldn't be more like a Mac. They're
different. Get used to it, or pay for quickbooks.
Instead, you
Good Morning,
Two weeks ago I got help on split transactions. How do I find that thread?
I tried splits again yesterday and what a mess. Why can't they just
work like quick books?

Hello,
Gnucash is double entry accounting. You're putting both entries for the
transaction into the same account. Try reading the Guide (available at the
website) to grasp the concepts, especially
https://www.gnucash.org/docs/v4/C/gnucash-guide/basics-accounting1.html#basics-accountingdouble2
FYI I’m running GnuCash 4.6 on Big Sur and not having any issues. All I did
was download it, open the DMG, and drag the GnuCash icon into the applications
folder. It asked if I wanted to replace the existing version, I said yes, it
installed, and has been working fine since.

Hello everyone,
All I did to deserve this situation is download the latest version of GC 4.6 on
my mac using OS Big Sur. That is all I did. Now GC crashes and gives me the
window you see.
I back up to Time Machine but will that also include GC? I haven’t checked to
see if I can find the
Hi there,
Can someone please help me, our problem is whenever i add an income (not
only income but also all other sales like acount) transaction , it
willautomatically duplicate this particular transaction but the amount is
now tranferred to "Charge" resulting to zero balance.

I am running Gnucash 4.6 on macOS Big Sur and get Report errors for these two
reports. Others in the Assets & Liabilities menu work fine. I recently
upgraded from 4.5 where I got the similar errors, but did not save the message
before I upgraded.

Hallo John - Many Thanks for your response.
I ran the GUI from the terminal command prompt as you have suggested - however,
the problem remains the same - the application does not “get” / “find”
