One interesting fact (and possibly, factor) in the decolonization story -
which I found mentioned in multiple contexts on a recent stay in
Pondicherry - is how France highly advantageously played "good decolonizer"
to New Delhi, in full cognizance of the gains to be made by being "more
reasonable"
Since it is a brief prepared by the Ministry of External Affairs,
Government of India, it can be relied upon for factual information.
Viewpoints may differ. You have to factor in that this is a government
issued brief.

Affairs, and “in.gov” in the url stands for the Indian government. So its url
