There is a saying in Swahili:
Chombo cha kuzama hakina usukani.

or

A sinking vessel needs no navigation :-)

Why were the Mormugoa Harbour Authorities and Police informed and what

they expected to do in the matter?

 Mystery???

 Cheers

Good Question Aloysius !

I am sure Joel Blundered with the name of the Port. The Ship must have been
proceeding from
some Gulf Port to Fiji.

Cheers ! Vince

THOUGHT FOR TODAY: Khoro mog dita ani bhogxita. (True love gives and
forgives.) (domnic fernandes [EMAIL PROTECTED])

EXPOSITION 2004 PHOTO FEATURE: A small photo feature on the Exposition
of the Sacred Remains of St Francis Xavier which opened at Old Goa on
November 21. Please Check at
http://goacom.com/goanow/exposition/Exposition2004.htm

REDDY: GOA NOT YET PERMANENT ABODE OF IFFI: Union Minister for Information
and Broadcasting S Jaipal Reddy said on December 1 that a final decision on
Goa as a permanent venue for International Film Festival of India would be
taken only after studying the experiences of the ongoing 35th IFFI event. He
said that the Central government had entered into the Memorandum of
Understanding with the Goa government for one year. He made it clear that
all political parties from Goa were unanimous in demanding that Goa be made
the permanent venue for IFFI. There is no politics involved in the
decision. IFFI is our country's pride and we will take a decision which is
in the interest of the film industry, the minister said. (GT)

LACK OF PUBLICITY: Alexander de Grunwald, former Production Manager with
Richard Attenborough's Gandhi, has been at the IFFI from day one. He has
attended festivals the world over including the FICCI Frames Conference of
India and is currently India representative for Film Finances Inc and the
media consultant for ImpactIndia Foundation. But at the IFFI in Goa, he has
yet to obtain his delegate's pass like so many other film professionals.
Registration is now closed, says a board. But de Grunwald says he hopes he
would get a pass. About the IFFI in Goa, he says, The big surprise to me is
the lack of publicity or hype about the IFFI. Other delegates may arrive
later in the week, but certainly judging by the opening ceremonies, there
does seem to be a lack of foreign delegates and it begs the question as to
who this Festival is aimed at. (GT's IFFI supplement)

CLEARING THE HURDLES: The 35th International Film festival of India seems to
be making an impact on the city of Panaji with the waterfront from the
market to Miramar looking like another world, even more beautiful at
night.Ms Ruby Das, An Assamese delegate was critical of the arrangements and
the inconvenience caused to the delegates. This morning the rear lights were
on at the Kala Academy five minutes after the film started.the
projectionists at the INOX at times have trouble focusing on the
screen.Hyderabad filmmaker, Mr AVS Adinarayan complained about the rudeness
of the Goan staff who just brushed off well-known film personalities. It is
bad hospitality, he said. No, he thought Goa was right for IFFI but the
officials must be more polite. (Ervell E Menezes in NT)

HOLLYWOOD HAS LOST ITS HEART: Victoria Page, who danced with Elvis in a
movie, and Lawrence David Foldes, who got his first kicks through his movie
Malibu High at the age of 18, are partners at work and in life. They will
feature in the critically acclaimed movie, Finding Home, at the 35th
International Film Festival of India. The Goa bug has already bitten them.
We see and feel the passion that film makers and film lovers have. This is
so fresh and nice. We are thrilled to be here, they said in unison. (Reuven
Proenca in GT's IFFI supplement)

KONKANI PROGRAMMES ON AIR, DD TO GET A BOOST: S Jaipal Reddy said that a new
transponder would be provided to facilitate greater programme generation on
Panaji Doordarshan Kendra and the All India Radio (AIR) in Konkani, which he
said, was not only the local dialect of Goa but also spoken in the border
areas of Goa as well. (GT)

AIDS MOVES FROM COAST TO HINTERLAND: The Minister of Health, Dr Suresh
Amonkar, said in spite of Goa being a highly literate State, there are 7,189
HIV-positive cases in the state, including 511 cases of full-blown AIDS. In
addition, there may exist some hidden cases as well as those which have gone
unreported. (NT)

BIG B FOR THE BIG A: For Amitabh Bachchan being appointed as the first Asian
ambassador for the Nelson Mandela Foundation comes as yet another
responsibility that he has taken on with his trademark positivity. The job
on hand is to use his celebrity status to generate awareness about the
dreaded disease of AIDS in accordance with the rules and policies of the
Foundation. (GT)

TUSSLE OVER DGP CONTROVERSY: As expected, the State government and the
Centre are engaged in a confrontation over the manner in which Goa's
Director General of Police Amod Kant was relieved of his services from the
State administration. Expressing displeasure over the
