The owner of the leather shop, one Mohamad Altaf Handroo, has been booked under section 49-B and 51 of the Wildlife Protection Act. On Tuesday a smug Chief Minister held forth on two related contentious issues and made politically loaded statements, rubbishing political opponents and theatre owners like Congress MLA, Harish Zantye, without directly referring to them...He said that he did not follow accepted tendering norms for the multiplex project because of deadlines.On why he didn't hand over the multiplex project to local experts in Goa, instead of brining in INOX, he said, he said, The government is not in the entertainment business so we have handed over the multiplex to INOX.If I give it to a third party he might destroy the equipment. (GT) GOVT EXPECTS RS.10 LAKH PER MONTH: Goa's first multiplex, built in record time at a cost of Rs.24.92 crore, is owned by the State government. INOX will run it on a build and operate basis till the next film festival. Around 12-15 percent of the total revenues will go into the government's coffers and we expect a minimum of Rs.10 lakh per month, Mr Parrikar told journalists at a press conference on November 9. (H) INOX THEATRE OPENS ON SAT: The INOX multiplex will be thrown open to the pub lic from 13 November with the movies Garfield, Veer Zaara, Aitraaz and Naach. Bookings will begin on 12 Nov and the multiplex box office can be contacted on 2420999. INOX is offering home deliveries within a limited area. The company is expected to begin SMS and Internet booking for tickets from 9 December.
