 PHISHING Report

Fraudsters put a malicious file or script in:

 https://microsoft-ie-explore-config-br.googlecode.com/svn/windows.microsoft.compt-BRinternet.pac

The contents of this file or script redirect traffic to a PHISHING
website, wich attacks customers of Banco do Brasil (Bank of Brazil).

In some cases, it is not possible to you to load the PHISHING contents and
will be displayed to you only a blank page or a 403 Forbidden Error. This
is because fraudsters are using geolocation technology, so the website can
identify and locate the user's IP address and it will display PHISHING
contents only for brazilian users (IP addresses from Brazil). But we can
guarantee that it is still there.

Please contact the webmaster or the webhosting company in charge to remove
the malicious file or script, stopping the illegal activity.

Re: Is google code down right now? I am getting this error: svn: E135006: Temporarily unavailable

2013-03-16 Thread Lucas Bergman
There was a serious infrastructure issue in two datacenters
(simultaneously!) that caused svn service to be read-only for a bit. My
reckoning is that this got sorted more than 24 hours ago (and many people
report that we're back), but it seems like some people are still not able
to commit to some repositories?

This issue tracks the problem:

Re: Google Code malware report 2012-08-19

On Mon, Aug 20, 2012 at 12:37 PM, Tal Dayan dayans...@gmail.com wrote:

I am looking at these malware notices and they made we worry. Does it mean
that google can shut down any project's repository, with no advance notice,
because it was classified as malware? If so, what are the avenues to
 appeal such decisions?

As the Google engineer who responds the most to reports of malware (both
from our own crawlers and from external reports), I should chime in here
with a few points:

   1. The number of new malware-project reports we get each day from all
sources combined is small enough that an engineer can spot check them, so
we have a good chance of distinguishing between malicious malware-only
projects (the vast majority) and legitimate projects that happen to have
one infected file or a false positive.
   2. The projects that contain only malware-infested binaries are
immediately taken down, but their contents remain for at least 90 days in
case we receive an appeal. I'm talking about projects that are clearly
malicious: their project descriptions are nonsense, they have no source
code commits (here or anywhere else, e.g., Github), they have no issues,
and they have no wiki pages.
   3. The projects that appear to be legitimate aren't necessarily taken
down immediately. One of us usually notifies the project owner(s) and gives
them a bit of time to clean house. If the malware is particularly
nefarious, we may have to take it down immediately, but we'll still notify
   the owner(s).
   4. We see dozens or hundreds of projects in category (2) for every one
   in category (3).
   5. If your project is taken down, send us email (here or at any of our
other mailing lists), and we'll see what's going on. Your project's
contents are safe for at least 90 days after a takedown.

I use google code as the sole repository for my open source app but start
thinking about having a independent repository such as github mirroring it.

We encourage you to preserve your code however you like. The great thing
about distributed version control is that you have lots of mirrors,
including Github and all your repositories' clones, everywhere.

time (I understand 1 month) it takes for a project to become free, but
it has now been longer than that and the project title is still
 unavailable.

How long has the project lay fallow? If less than 6 months, don't be
optimistic about being assigned ownership of the project.

There has never been code in the project.

Is there something fishy about the circumstances of the request?

 I don't think so.

Is there code in that project?

Not that I saw the last time it was visible.

Is the project scheduled for deletion? If so, we'll likely just give
  it to you.

 Yes.

Is the project you wish to take over a spam trap or hosting malware or
  simply not open source?

The project is an open source (GPL3) bioinformatics library currently
 hosted at github.com/kortschak/biogo

Have you made an effort in good faith to contact the current owners?

 Yes.

What, if anything, did they have to say in reply?

They say they deleted the project.

Has one of the original developers died or otherwise dropped off the
grid in some fashion that you can describe to us?

Not as far as I can see dev name pingjie on twitter, fb etc all active.

Have you hosted malware, spam or non-open source content on Project

 No.

 the creation of your account.

We place limits on the number of actions that can be performed by each

Re: svnsync checksum mistmatch

2012-05-11 Thread Lucas Bergman
Gross. I've seen an error like this once before, and it meant that an old
revision in your repository got corrupted in at least one datacenter but
not others. We can fix it, but it requires considerable manual work, and
there is a non-zero risk of doing further damage. If you need us to take
care of it, please just contact us again through this list, and we'll fit
it in where we can.

Since you've moved to Git, probably best just to stick with that.

Sorry about the trouble,

I'm sorry that you've dealt with so many compliance issues. There are
resources for dealing specifically with GPL enforcement if your project has
a clean copyright history. Have you gotten in touch with any of them?

In my personal view, and as you've noted, adding a field-of-use restriction
to the project's license is unlikely to stop people who didn't comply with
the original license. Of course, you and other copyright holders are
welcome to choose the license that you prefer.

This is not about philosophy. We want our users to be able to download

The Add On has not been authorized by tape.tv and is an *illegal rip-off

URL of one of the scripts hosted on this site, the result page
automatically redirects itself and opens a URL pointing to an
advertisement page. Same thing has also happened sometimes when
visiting a website that displays google adwords and the adwords result

One example of the scripts I've captured was:

Please check the reported site and their scripts, and take action

The site in question is http://code.google.com/p/visualmicro/

Seeing that our company name is being incorrectly used without

it would be nice if the site was shutdown without further request.

As I said above, we are not in the business of adjudicating copyright
disputes, but the project does not appear to be open source software. This
latter was enough to get the project taken down.

Re: Group w/ no source: lusca-mfsbsd

2011-10-20 Thread Lucas Bergman
I understand how you think that this isn't very cooperative behavior, but I
don't think any of it violates Google Code's project hosting policy. That
is, these projects are being used for open source software development,
albeit in a rather eccentric way.

Do you disagree?

download, rather than have anything checked in.

I've emailed both authors about this; I hope they'll be interested in
actually contributing back to the main upstream project rather than
 maintaining file repositories :)

Re: Please delete my project vegetationsbeiwert from google-code

What Google account that isn't deleted would you like to have control of the

 Hello,
my name is Anne-K. Brüggenwirth. I was the owner of the project

delete the project. I deleted my account and assumed that hereby the
project will be deleted as well. Unfortunatly this was not the case.

Recently my former superviser contacted me and told me that my project
is still available at google-code and that there is some code that I
should not have committed. This code might be conflicting with the
 interlectual properties of the university.

To solve these issues I would like you either to delete the project
vegetationsbeiwert or to give me back the ownership of the project
that I can delete the problematic content by myself.

I want to apologize for any trouble.
Please let know what happens next or what I can do to solve the problems.

 Kindly,
 Anne

I have restored your access. Please keep in mind that Project Hosting on
Google Code is for the development of open source software, not for hosting
random files. If you fail to adhere to that policy in the future, your
access will be revoked permanently.
