  The criu package has source code for arch/aarch64, but arm64 is not

  At least for artful, adding arm64 to the supported list in
  debian/control is sufficient for the build to succeed.

Status in libapache2-mod-auth-pgsql package in Debian:

Bug description:
  [Impact]
  The libapache2-mod-auth-pgsql module will cause a segfault error in apache if
its encrypted support is enabled ("Auth_PG_encrypted on") and a hash format not
supported by crypt(3) is used.

  Since this is an apache module, users might be tempted to use
  htpasswd(1) to generate such hashes. The option to generate SHA hashes
  (-s) in particular will generate a hash incompatible with crypt(3),
  which will then return NULL and cause the segfault in unpatched
  versions of this apache module.

  The fix catches the situation when crypt(3) returns NULL and logs the
  event as an unsupported hash type being found, and denies the login.

  [Test Case]

  * install the packages on the Ubuntu release you are testing:
  $ sudo apt install apache2 libapache2-mod-auth-pgsql postgresql

  * create the database and populate it with the test users from the attached
test-users.sql file:
  $ sudo -u postgres -H createdb userdb
  $ sudo -u postgres -H psql userdb -f test-users.sql

  * Create the DB user we will use:
  $ sudo -u postgres -H psql postgres -c "CREATE ROLE www UNENCRYPTED PASSWORD
'password' NOSUPERUSER NOCREATEDB NOCREATEROLE INHERIT LOGIN;"

  * Grant access:
  $ sudo -u postgres -H psql userdb -c "GRANT SELECT ON TABLE userlogin TO www;"

  * Create the /var/www/html/.htaccess file with this content:
  AuthType basic
  AuthName "My Auth"
  Require valid-user
  AuthBasicProvider pgsql
  Auth_PG_authoritative On
  Auth_PG_host 127.0.0.1
  Auth_PG_port 5432
  Auth_PG_user www
  Auth_PG_pwd password
  Auth_PG_database userdb
  Auth_PG_encrypted on
  Auth_PG_pwd_table UserLogin
  Auth_PG_uid_field Username
  Auth_PG_pwd_field ApachePassword

  * Setup access in apache by editing /etc/apache2/sites-
  enabled/000-default.conf and adding these lines somewhere inside the
   section:

  AllowOverride AuthConfig

  * Enable the mod-auth-pgsql module:
  $ sudo a2enmod 000_auth_pgsql

  * Restart apache:
  $ sudo service apache2 restart

  To try each test login, use a loop like this:

  $ for u in ubuntu-invalidhash ubuntu-md5 ubuntu-sha256 ubuntu-sha512
ubuntu-des; do echo -n "Testing $u... "; curl -f http://$u:secret@localhost/ -o
/dev/null -s; echo $?; done
  Testing ubuntu-invalidhash... 52
  Testing ubuntu-md5... 0
  Testing ubuntu-sha256... 0
  Testing ubuntu-sha512... 0
  Testing ubuntu-des... 0

  Error 52 means "empty reply from server". That's when apache segfaulted:
  [Wed Jul 19 19:28:13.808711 2017] [core:notice] [pid 9499:tid
140330145511296] AH00051: child pid 9677 exit signal Segmentation fault (11),
possible coredump in /etc/apache2

  With the fixed version of libapache2-mod-auth-pgsql, the test loop
  will just record a normal authentication problem for the ubuntu-
  invalidhash user (since the hash is not supported) instead of an
  "empty reply from server":

  $ for u in ubuntu-invalidhash ubuntu-md5 ubuntu-sha256 ubuntu-sha512
ubuntu-des; do echo -n "Testing $u... "; curl -f http://$u:secret@localhost/ -o
/dev/null -s; echo $?; done
  Testing ubuntu-invalidhash... 22
  Testing ubuntu-md5... 0
  Testing ubuntu-sha256... 0
  Testing ubuntu-sha512... 0
  Testing ubuntu-des... 0

  And we get this fact logged:
  [Wed Jul 19 19:38:56.547337 2017] [auth_pgsql:error] [pid 10035:tid
140550732678912] [client 127.0.0.1:56946] [mod_auth_pgsql.c] - ERROR - PG user
ubuntu-invalidhash: unsupported CRYPT format

  [Regression Potential]
  The patch seems pretty straight forward and uses a well documented crypt(3)
return value in the case of errors.

  This is a very old module that hasn't been built in a while (see
  [other info] below. It's possible that just by rebuilding it with the
  new environment available in each ubuntu release since vivid could
  introduce unknowns. Hopefully, if

Bug description:
  [Impact]
  update-manager is missing a recommends on libgtk2-perl which allows it to
display debconf prompts. While we've fixed software-properties-gtk and
gnome-software to depend / recommend libgk2-perl and this will resolve the
issue for most installations it'd be best to fix update-manager too for all
releases in case there is some installation situation where libgtk2-perl is
missing.

  [Test Case]
  1) Uninstall libgtk2-perl - 'sudo apt-get remove libgtk2-perl'
  2) Launch update-manager from a terminal
  3) Observe the following message in the terminal:

  debconf: unable to initialize frontend: Gnome
  debconf: (Can't locate Gtk2.pm in @INC (you may need to install the Gtk2
module) (@INC contains: /etc/perl /usr/local/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/perl/5.24.1
/usr/local/share/perl/5.24.1 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/perl5/5.24

/usr/share/perl5/Debconf/FrontEnd/Gnome.pm line 91.)
  debconf: falling back to frontend: Dialog

  [Regression Potential]
  None - no really! We are just adding a recommends on another package.

  Original Description

  I'm not really sure whether this is a bug; I think the install was hanging
for a while, with a blank window displaying. I killed the install and it went
away, but it's certainly plausible that this is due to something local, not a
bug. Feel free to close this if nobody else is seeing it.

Bug description:
  [Impact]

  When using l3 ha and a router agent fails over, the interface holding
  the network:router_gateway interface does not get its property
  binding:host_id updated to reflect where the keepalived moved the
  router.

  [Steps to reproduce]

  0) Deploy a cloud with l3ha enabled
    - If familiar with juju, it's possible to use this bundle
http://paste.ubuntu.com/24707730/ , but the deployment tool is not relevant

  1) Once it's deployed, configure it and create a router see
https://docs.openstack.org/mitaka/networking-guide/deploy-lb-ha-vrrp.html )
    - This is the script used during the troubleshooting
  -8<--
  #!/bin/bash -x

  source novarc  # admin

  neutron net-create ext-net --router:external True
  --provider:physical_network physnet1 --provider:network_type flat

  neutron subnet-create ext-net 10.5.0.0/16 --name ext-subnet
  --allocation-pool start=10.5.254.100,end=10.5.254.199 --disable-dhcp
  --gateway 10.5.0.1 --dns-nameserver 10.5.0.3

  keystone tenant-create --name demo 2>/dev/null
  keystone user-role-add --user admin --tenant demo --role Admin 2>/dev/null

  export TENANT_ID_DEMO=$(keystone tenant-list | grep demo | awk -F'|'
  '{print $2}' | tr -d ' ' 2>/dev/null )

  neutron net-create demo-net --tenant-id ${TENANT_ID_DEMO}
  --provider:network_type vxlan

  env OS_TENANT_NAME=demo neutron subnet-create demo-net 192.168.1.0/24 --name
demo-subnet --gateway 192.168.1.1
  env OS_TENANT_NAME=demo neutron router-create demo-router
  env OS_TENANT_NAME=demo neutron router-interface-add demo-router demo-subnet
  env OS_TENANT_NAME=demo neutron router-gateway-set demo-router ext-net

  # verification
  neutron net-list
  neutron l3-agent-list-hosting-router demo-router
  neutron router-port-list demo-router
  - 8< ---

  2) Kill the associated master keepalived process for the router
  ps aux | grep keepalived | grep $ROUTER_ID
  kill $PID

  3) Wait until "neutron l3-agent-list-hosting-router demo-router" shows the
other host as active
  4) Check the binding:host_id property for the interfaces of the router
  for ID in `neutron port-list --device-id $ROUTER_ID | tail -n +4 | head
-n -1| awk -F' ' '{print $2}' `; do neutron port-show $ID ; done

  Expected results:

  The interface where the device_owner is network:router_gateway has its
  property binding:host_id set to where the keepalived process is master

  Actual result:

  The binding:host_id is never updated, it stays set with the value
  obtainer during the creation of the port.

  [Regression Potential]
  - This patch changes the UPDATE query to the port bindings in the database, a
possible regression will express as failures in the query or binding:host_id
property outdated.

  [Other Info]

  The patches for zesty and yakkety are a direct backport from
  stable/ocata and stable/newton respectively. The patch for xenial is
  NOT merged in stable/xenial because it's already EOL.

Bug description:
  Trusty, Mitaka, Juju 1.25.11

  We have a cloud where swift replicators are constantly falling over on
  2 nodes. This occurs whenever rsyslog restarts, as in

  https://bugs.launchpad.net/swift/+bug/1094230
  https://review.openstack.org/#/c/24871
  https://bugs.python.org/issue15179

  rsyslog restarts are unfortunately frequent right now, due to
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/juju-core/+bug/1683075

  Nodes are landscape managed and up to date but still exhibit the
  failure.

  Not much from running swift in verbose.
  https://pastebin.canonical.com/185609/

  sosreports are uploading to https://private-
  fileshare.canonical.com/~jillr/sf00137831/

  [Impact]

   * Stopping rsyslog causes swift daemons to crash due to overflowing
  the call stack when attempting to write an entry to the logging
  subsystem and the attempt to write to /dev/log fails. When rsyslog
  stops, the /dev/log socket is unavailable and results in an exception.
  The swift logging code attempts to log the resultant error, which
  again results in an exception. This continues until the stack is
  overflowed and the swift daemons crash. When the swift daemons crash,
  the object, container and account data are not able to be replicated
  to other storage nodes in the system, which affects the data integrity
  of the data being written to the system.

   * The patch should be backported to stable releases in order to
  ensure that the data integrity of objects, accounts, and containers
  within Swift are not adversely affected due to failed logging
  subsystems.

   * The uploaded patches fix the bug by only attempting to log an entry
  to the logging subsystem if the current call stack does not include an
  attempt to write to the logs. If the current call stack includes an
  attempt to log to the logging subsystem, the log message is dropped
  avoiding the recursion.

  [Test Case]

   * Install swift storage cluster
   * Log into one of the swift storage nodes
   * Ensure the swift-{object,account,container}-replicator processes are
running
   * Stop the rsyslog service
   * Wait a minute
   * Observe the swift-{object,account,container}-replicator processes are no
longer running

  [Regression Potential]

   * This affects the logging capabilities provided by the Swift code.
  Possible regressions could occur in almost any subsystem, since the
  logging is universal throughout the code base and could result in lost
  log entries in the best regression scenario and possible crashing of
  swift daemons in the worst case scenario. The regression potential is
  mitigated by the fact that this patch has already been included
  upstream for over a year now and no regressions have been reported
  against this code since.

  [Other Info]

   * /dev/log is not provided by the rsyslog daemon in Xenial, but this
  patch still applies in that any persistent exception encountered when
  writing to /dev/log will cause the call stack to overflow and crash
  the swift daemons.

Bug description:
  [Impact] [Testcase]
  Running on Ubuntu 14.04.
  After installing nova from source in either the Liberty release or Mitaka,
with WebOb 1.6.0, running any nova command generated this error:

  The equivalent openstack commands work correctly. After downgrading
  WebOb to 1.5.1 AND restarting the nova-api service everything works.

  -8<--
  #!/bin/bash -x

  source novarc  # admin

  neutron net-create ext-net --router:external True
  --provider:physical_network physnet1 --provider:network_type flat

  neutron subnet-create ext-net 10.5.0.0/16 --name ext-subnet
  --allocation-pool start=10.5.254.100,end=10.5.254.199 --disable-dhcp
  --gateway 10.5.0.1 --dns-nameserver 10.5.0.3

  keystone tenant-create --name demo 2>/dev/null
  keystone user-role-add --user admin --tenant demo --role Admin 2>/dev/null

  export TENANT_ID_DEMO=$(keystone tenant-list | grep demo | awk -F'|'
  '{print $2}' | tr -d ' ' 2>/dev/null )

  neutron net-create demo-net --tenant-id ${TENANT_ID_DEMO}
  --provider:network_type vxlan

  env OS_TENANT_NAME=demo neutron subnet-create demo-net 192.168.1.0/24 --name

  env OS_TENANT_NAME=demo neutron router-create demo-router
  env OS_TENANT_NAME=demo neutron router-interface-add demo-router demo-subnet
  env OS_TENANT_NAME=demo neutron router-gateway-set demo-router ext-net

The patch for xenial is
  NOT merged in stable/xenial because it's already EOL.

  i40e: add device ID for X722 Intel NIC

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released
Status in linux source package in Xenial:
  New

Bug description:
  [Impact]

  Without the device id, the 4.4 kernel does not recognize the X722
  Intel NIC PCI id, and does not drive the device with the i40e driver.

  [Test Case]

  On a system with the X722 hardware Intel NIC, load the i40e driver.
  It will not detect the X722 NIC. After applying the patches, the i40e
  driver will detect the NIC and create interfaces for it.

  [Regression Potential]

  Changes to the i40e driver may cause problems with existing i40e NICs,
  although the patches are small and should not have any side effects.

  install KVM like:

  apt-get install libvirt-bin qemu qemu-slof qemu-system qemu-utils

  Docker is ordinarily configured to use aufs, but the aufs kernel

  Please promote aufs.ko from the linux-image-extra package to the main

  fontutil.h is contained in libxfont1-dev package not libxfont-dev

  I am trying to build xorgxrdp and it fails because fontutil.h is
  missing.

  In Ubuntu, libxfont1-dev package is required however libxfont1-dev and
  libxfont-dev cannot be installed together. This is the problem.

  Title: KMail: HTML injection in plain text viewer
  Risk Rating:Important
  CVE:CVE-2016-7966
  Platforms:  All
  Versions:   kmail >= 4.4.0
  Author: Andre Heinecke
  Date:   6 October 2016

  Overview

  Through a malicious URL that contained a quote character it
  was possible to inject HTML code in KMail's plain text viewer.
  Due to the parser used on the URL it was not possible to include
  the equal sign (=) or a space into the injected HTML, which greatly
  reduces the available HTML functionality. Although it is possible
  to include an HTML comment indicator to hide content.

  Impact
  ==

  An unauthenticated attacker can send out mails with malicious content
  that breaks KMail's plain text HTML escape logic. Due to the limitations
  of the provided HTML in itself it might not be serious. But as a way
  to break out of KMail's restricted Plain text mode this might open
  the way to the exploitation of other vulnerabilities in the HTML viewer
  code, which is disabled by default.

  Workaround
  ==

  None.

  Solution

  For KDE Frameworks based releases of KMail apply the following patch to
  kcoreaddons:

https://quickgit.kde.org/?p=kcoreaddons.git=commitdiff=96e562d9138c100498da38e4c5b4091a226dde12

  For kdelibs4 based releases apply the following patch:

https://quickgit.kde.org/?p=kdepimlibs.git=commitdiff=176fee25ca79145ab5c8e2275d248f1a46a8d8cf

  Credits
  ===

  Thanks to Roland Tapken for reporting this issue, Andre Heinecke from
  Intevation GmbH for analysing the problems and Laurent Montel for
  fixing this issue.

  Updated Information (1 November 2016)
  =

  The above mentioned patches are not enough to fix the vulnerability
completely.
  This wasn't visible, because the patches for CVE-2016-7967 and CVE-2016-7968
made sure,
  that this vulnerability can't harm anymore.
  It only became visible, that this vulnerability isn't closed completely for
systems,
  that are only affected by this CVE.

  For KCoreAddons you need:

https://quickgit.kde.org/?p=kcoreaddons.git=commitdiff=96e562d9138c100498da38e4c5b4091a226dde12
  for applying this patch you may also need to cherry-pick:

https://quickgit.kde.org/?p=kcoreaddons.git=commitdiff=1be7272373d60e4234f1a5584e676b579302b053
  (these two are released in KCoreAddons KDE Frameworks 5.27.0)

  additionally git commits, to close completely:

https://quickgit.kde.org/?p=kcoreaddons.git=commitdiff=5e13d2439dbf540fdc840f0b0ab5b3ebf6642c6a
  not needed in the strong sense, but this will give you the additional
automatic tests, to test if this CVE is closed:

https://quickgit.kde.org/?p=kcoreaddons.git=commitdiff=a06cef31cc4c908bc9b76bd9d103fe9c60e0953f

  (will be part of KCoreAddons KDE Frameworks 5.28.0)

  For kdepimlibs 4.14:

https://quickgit.kde.org/?p=kdepimlibs.git=commitdiff=176fee25ca79145ab5c8e2275d248f1a46a8d8cf

https://quickgit.kde.org/?p=kdepimlibs.git=commitdiff=8bbe1bd3fdc55f609340edc667ff154b3d2aaab1
  kdepimlibs is at end of life, so no further release is planned.

[Group.of.nepali.translators] [Bug 1708305] Re: Realtime feature mlockall: Cannot allocate memory

2017-08-10 Thread Jorge Niedbalski
Hello Christian,

Attached you can find a xenial SRU patch based on commit
(https://github.com/libvirt/libvirt/commit/7e667664d28f90bf6916604a55ebad7e2d85305b).

Here is the guest definition used on my testing
(http://paste.ubuntu.com/25288141/)

Without the patch, the error is reproduced.

root@buneary:/home/ubuntu# virsh start reproducer2
error: Failed to start domain reproducer2
error: internal error: process exited while connecting to monitor: mlockall:
Cannot allocate memory
2017-08-11T03:59:54.936275Z qemu-system-x86_64: locking memory failed

With the patch the guest is initialized correctly.

root@buneary:/var/lib/uvtool/libvirt/images# virsh start reproducer2
Domain reproducer2 started

I ran the following systemtap probe (probe
kernel.function("sys_setrlimit") { printf("locked: %d -> %s\n", pid(),
sprintf("%s, %s", _rlimit_resource_str($resource),
_struct_rlimit_u($rlim))) } )

And the output shows that the RLIMIT_MEMLOCK process limit is set to
9007199254740991 (VIR_DOMAIN_MEMORY_PARAM_UNLIMITED)

root@buneary:/home/ubuntu# stap -g qemu_probe.stap -kv  -g
--suppress-time-limits
