If you have a spare box around and a couple of like drives, you could install nexenta or freenas and use ZFS's built in raid. It performs remarkably well and you would be able to use/learn iscsi :) when you need more speed, you can buy ssd's and front them as read and write caches for the raid.

A couple of things to check:All inbound traffic is turned off. Some firewalls still allow ICMP through and such. Disable the remote admin. Most of the time this is the default, but not always. Keep up on the firmware patches. Instead of adding another firewall, add a box running Snort with Oinkm

The only difference I can see is the number of inputs, which may or may not be an issue (3 vs. 4 HDMI). I would look up/ask on avsforums about the two receivers. Personally, I've always liked Denon receivers (I've owned two and loved them), but the folks over at avs really know their stuff.Julian
