I'm building a 6 ft. stretch hexayurt for BM. Considering that all the
seams are sealed with tape as well as the bottom, how does one avoid
suffocation. There will be two people sleeping in it. We plan to install
some furnace filters, but what if they clog with playa dust?
How many square feet
The area of a hexagon is determined from the formula

where t is the length of the side.
With an 8 ft side, the area works out to 166 sq. ft.

I was wondering if anyone leaves a 2-3 sill at the bottom of the door in an
attempt to not weaken that panel by cutting the door all the way through the
edge. Is it worth the trouble?

I'd like some recommendations for hexayurt windows. I'm not interested in
framed, sliding windows with screens, just some plastic of some kind taped
over a hole in the panel. Any recommendations on what kind of plastic to
use? Thin plexiglas maybe? Or perhaps flexible vinyl?

I'd like to know what people use to anchor their hexayurts on the playa.
How do you connect from the tape anchors at the roof edge to the rebar in
the playa? Rope? Ratcheting straps? I think I'm going to use straight
1/2 rebar, rather than candy canes or U's. How would I attach the anchor
have recalciitrant U's): it's a little-known fact, but you can get
stuff like rebar in the ground UNstuck by, believe it or not, driving it in
a nudge more. Yes, it goes in a tad deeper, but it breaks whatever is
sticking to it quite effectively.

Is it imperative that the tape anchors go all the way over the top to the
other side?
I'm making a 6' stretch hexayurt and have 4 anchors, 2 on each of the 8'
sides. I'd like to add an anchor on each end where the two 4' panels join,
with the tape just extending up to the roof ridge, but not

Anyone have a good idea for a door latch for the standard door on an H12 HY?
I don't want to have to add a lot of plywood or other material, I just want
to use the cut out foam panel door. It needs to be latchable and
unlatchable from both the inside and the outside.
Thanks,
Milt

just wondering how you secured the plywood on the leading edge. And was it
vertical or did you some how slope it to better deflect the wind.

Just wondering how one goes about setting up a hexayurt on the playa without
being totally blinded by the sun reflecting off the panels.

How are you going to get 8 foot panels in a 4x6 trailer, even if they would

I rented a U-haul 5x8 cargo trailer in 2011 to carry my stretch hexayurt.
The 8 foot length was just barely NOT long enough. I had to put the

I used 1 loose hinges on mine. Once you have it all together with the
ends taped together and the roof triangles taped, it's plenty stable.
