Are you processing to Pwax?
If so, I stain my mouse DRGS ( very small) using Haemalum.
5 mins max ( I use Gill's I) then blue in alkaline tapwater for 10 mins before
Pwax processing
Stain from Formalin or alcohol but.rinse in dist water to remove before
staining.
The "blue" stays nicely
