Ban a whole class b network block. That fixes most cable/dsl
customers... or small countries.

Do you have full access to the box (or firewall)? Just block his IP, and
the packets won't even get to the server.

One of our servers has recently fallen victim to a few griefers that
repeatedly try to join our server with offensive names. We've banned by
STEAM_ID and by IP address, but we still see the offensive names when he
attempts to join. Is there any way to stop the server from displaying these

You know what they say about assuming. :)
Also, I'm pretty sure if you're running even a remotely legit server you
won't even notice the scoring system.

Text chat definitely seems to be a bit broken if you're playing
competitively. Although I just play entirely for fun on all-talk servers, so
I've never really noticed an issue personally. But there should be some
tweaking done in that regard.

Dead can hear all, alive can hear alive (Own team, of course).
Dead can't teamsay (So they can still talk(afk, nice pounce, etc.) ,
but the other team will see it, so trying to ghost won't work as well.

Nice idea with that steamgroup string!
But I'm with voogru, Server should be added in the steamgroup admin panel.

I totally want some sort of Steam Group association with other game
servers, TF2 especially. I love how L4D is tied to them, even in it's
currently exploitable manner. I'd also like to see the Server Banner be
added to the TF2 scoreboard or something else other than the MOTD.
Also, you can invite

well we are all assuming that this issue would be solved by the time it was
implemented in other games.

You can't password sv_steamgroup, plug-ins could forcefully change it
anyway.
A better option would be to have the administrator add his servers onto his
steam group, and servers from the groups your are associated with show up in
a different color to make them more visible. Another change I'd lik

When you say that, do you mean "I have direct evidence of a non-malicious
server being delisted" or do you mean "by taking what we know of the scoring
system and the cutoffs, and making assumptions about the hard figures behind
the process, I believe this can happen"?

They should also add invite to game for other games :-\

before this happens i would like to see a fix or a way to block servers
from using your steam group on their servers. as it is now its not hard
to get another groups steam group id and put it on there servers

One thought yea, provide a password string along with the community tag,
otherwise you get this people adding tags from other communities to their
empty servers to try and get em filled.

Great idea - it would be nice to have the same features across the whole

It'd be really nice if this sv_steamgroup idea was implemented for

all of their servers to his favorites. He right mouse clicks his

Yeah, thats all well and good - if that works on my server, but if i pub it

I think Valve should maybe consider this as a flaw that needs fixing - lets
face it, if a dead survivor can see spawn

Server plugins will be able to fade a player's screen when they die. That
should fix it.

Well it's technically balanced since both teams can do that when they are
survivors. Although it's not a terrible idea to make a server-side option to
lock the dead survivors spec mode onto alive survivors only.
