Hey,

just a simple question. When I type rcon stats in the servers' console it
shows me USERS and a number as high as 3212. What is this information as it
definately is not the info about how many users there are on my server.

As long as the steamgroups work as they do with certain id number that ANYONE
can dig up with a little work and add to their server configs, it's a pointless
feature. Right now l4D/L4D2 players get a bunch of servers if they belong to
official or popular groups along the real steamgroup servers because adding a
group id into server config is so easy and some people feel no shame and are
not afraid of abuse it.

If steamcommunity would have a tab of allowed server ip/port in steamgroup
settings, it would work as it should. Not like this that if you know an id of
steamgroup, it's all in and allowed.

I would prefer it this way as well. But yes, I'd love to specify steamgroup
servers for my steam groups. But seeing it on the other foot I would not
want random steamgroups adding my server either. So maybe allow a user to
specify a keyword or something in the server.cfg that also has to exist in
the steam group. And if you want to be able to list a server in multiple
steam groups, allow multiple keywords.

I would also like that tag option to be implemented in all of the games
supported by Valve as well. It's all or nothing honestly. I'm not going to
use the feature if I'm going to end up with double tags because I don't have
the option to specify the tags in another game.

Re: [hlds] Any chance of sv_steamgroup for CS:S / TF2?

2010-11-15 Thread Kevin b er
The steam group listing IP/ports could be if you kept the existing secret
key too. Right now its trivial for a server to claim its in a steam group,
but the server still has to make that claim. All that is needed is a 2nd
method for a steam group to claim a server. If BOTH the server and the
steam group claims eachother, then the client can list it.

Can't do just a one-way check between a server and a steam group, it needs
to be both ways.

[hlds] Strange Server.dll issue.

2010-11-15 Thread Wyn10 ...

Hi.

I have been recently trying to finish a TF2 server for my neighborhood but I
have been having some problems with it starting up. This is on Windows.

My ports are at 27016 UDP/TCP and my startup command is: srcds.exe
-console -game tf +map cp_manor_event +maxplayers 16 +ip 192.168.2.12
-port 27016

When I go to launch it it keeps trying to load off a unsigned module for
the server.dll, then tells me access to the secure servers are disabled
then fails to load the steam service. I am using a Bell Speedstream
6520 router.

I am currently not running steam when launching the server and have
attempted to install the server numerous times with the hldsupdate tool.

Here is what my console says when I start it up:
http://img715.imageshack.us/img715/8504/tf2t.png

Things I've tried: Turned off firewall, Check my DNS servers, Reinstalled(Like
4 times now), tried launching when steam is off/on, Ran as a admin when I am
already am.

Please help me solve this weird/confusing error. I have set a TF2 server up
before, but have never encountered this.
