Re: [hlds] Americas Army 3 dedicated server not listed on hlds tool
I've asked on the AA3 forums about this but with all the crybabies going on about the authentication servers being down it got buried before anything was noticed. I asked on the steampowered AA3 forums ( http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=900526 ) and I got a basic answer (albeit rather cryptic) and found some server related files in "X:\Steam\steamapps\common\america's army 3\Binaries" But as mentioned in the forum we might need the AA3 team to authorise the servers. -Original Message- From: hlds-boun...@list.valvesoftware.com [mailto:hlds-boun...@list.valvesoftware.com] On Behalf Of Steven Hartland Sent: Thursday, 18 June 2009 9:57 AM To: Half-Life dedicated Win32 server mailing list Subject: Re: [hlds] Americas Army 3 dedicated server not listed on hlds tool That will likely be the case but talking about the windows server here not the linux one. - Original Message - From: "Adam Nowacki" > > With 2.x linux server usually lagged behind windows version, I guess its > going to be the same with 3.x if they'll even release linux version :D This e.mail is private and confidential between Multiplay (UK) Ltd. and the person or entity to whom it is addressed. Re: [hlds] Americas Army 3 dedicated server not listed on hlds tool
Well, I reached out... sent the email and am waiting. In the meantime I've been tinkering with the steam Dedicated server config files found in X:\Steam\steamapps\common\america's army 3 dedicated server\Binaries, and uploaded them to the host box (roughly 2Gb). Managed to get a server up and running. It recognised the map I was running and almost connected with my client but of course because the auth servers aren't working it wouldn't let me finish connecting. I even saw my connection attempt: -- DevNet: Login request: ui_bink_master?Name=?team=0?Face=0 DevNet: Join request: ui_bink_master?Name=?team=0?Face=0 ScriptLog: Incoming connection request Options: ?Name=?team=0?Face=0 ScriptLog: (AGP_GameInfo_0) AA_GameInfo::Login Failure in server join URL - no name found in options "?Name=?team=0?Face=0" Warning: Login failed: You must log into your account and select a soldier before trying to join a server. [hlds] sv_benchmark server side cvars able to be activated by clients in Garrysmod Dedicated Servers.
As the subject says, recently this set of sv_benchmark server cvars have been discovered by players and this in itself is causing the servers to crash with the error message "This game doesn't support server benchmarks(no CServerBenchmarkHook found) when the clients run the command on their client. Http://p1c.icannt.org/Engine_error.jpg We're using ServerChecker and as the Error box doesn't disappear the server doesn't restart. For the love of me I cannot seem to remember if there's a way to disable the error box from popping up. I'm not sure if Garry can really do something about this as I'd assume it'd come from the TF2 side of things that updates with Garrysmod. Any assistance would be much appreciated with this matter. ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds
Re: [hlds] sv_benchmark server side cvars able to be activated byclients in Garrysmod Dedicated Servers.
Thanks, I'll give it a run now. I saw this before on previous occasions But wasn't sure if it'd actually work on GM. == I made a TF2 plugin to block this back before valve patched it. This is compiled against the orangebox engine and should work for garrysmod: http://www.nephyrin.net/NephCVUH_1.0.zip It's a plugin that adds the 'ncp' command, which marks the specified variable as a 'cheat', preventing clients from using it. So install that plugin as laid out in the readme ( in your case: dll/so in the orangebox/bin, .vdf in orangebox/garrysmod/addons ), restart your server or load it directly (plugin_load NephCVUH) and add to your server.cfg: ncp sv_benchmark_force_start (repeat for any other variables to block) remember to exec server.cfg or reboot after making changes A better solution might be a simpler garrysmod .lua plugin that hooks ClientCommands and blocks sv_benchmark_force_start and any other bad benchmark variables. - Neph ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds

It doesn't ban you from your games. Just from playing on secure servers. The old argument goes that Valve gave them a chance, banned cheaters for a year, that didn't work so they increased it further.. then permanent. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Gregory Matherne Sent: Saturday, 22 November 2008 4:41 AM To: Half-Life dedicated Win32 server mailing list Subject: Re: [hlds] TF2 Hacker Missed the update on that... Anyway if they are permanant then I agree banning for all games might be a bit over the top. Re: [hlds] Left 4 Dead Update Available
C-mon folks. As if reactions like that are going to help. Jason / Valve, What was the main point behind Valve locking the difficulty? Same question... 2 different ways of asking. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Coldorak Sent: Saturday, 6 December 2008 12:53 AM To: Half-Life dedicated Win32 server mailing list Subject: Re: [hlds] Left 4 Dead Update Available - Versus mode is now locked to Normal difficulty <-- are you stupid?!
