Fix
This problem has now appeared for me for a few different panoramas,
independent of the use of --fine-mask. Funny enough scaling the output
images down has helped with one while with another one scaling up was
avoiding the black spots.

I don't know what the Make script is called for.
But the bug reported at 709361 did not note that the Make script you are
blaming successfully executed one iteration before crapping out on the
Public bug reported:
