Your best bet is using a browser runtime, like hulahop. Gecko has good
support for SVG, but without SMIL. You'll have to use JavaScript for
animations.
Right now, the only runtime I know of that can run SMIL is Opera, and
that one is useless (because it's closed source). You could use
Fakesmile
Abbyy could distribute the free version of their software with a
license that allows it to be redistributed with Sugar, or more
precisely whatever activity uses it. But that would allow people to
make full-featured clones of Abbyy's software, so I doubt it.

Hi,
several development groups are being formed right now in Latin America
and in order to make easier for them to work together a new list has
been created:
http://lists.sugarlabs.org/listinfo/sugar-desarrollo
Please join if you would like to participate in discussions about
Sugar development

Won't this have the side effect of a segmented development community? On
which list would consensus be authoritative?

Hi,
the Zeitgeist team will be hacking in the same place as the SugarCamp.
They are working on bringing a not-too-dissimilar journal experience
to GNOME 3.0 so will be interesting to see how we can join forces.

I think there needs to be clear install instructions for those doing this
for the first time. I wasn't sure what to do. I found some instructions here

Just to confirm, this is tested and working. But, I think what
happened here is that you may have dragged a very small (too small)

Currently, there are tidbits of information on git spread around the wiki.
One of the hurdle for new contributors (of code) is figuring out how
to create an ssh key, set up an account on git.sl.o, and use git.
I would like to propose going through the wiki and moving the git
related information

The list was created to ensure and give the possibility to people that
don't know English or are not to confident in it to participate in

We'll hope that students and developers from all Spanish-speaking
countries take the lead and begin to support the overall sugar

This is a very nice article on our competitive landscape in open source.
My
concern about the thin client solutions is the students do not have
access out of school and that severely limits their potential to
explore and extend learning time.
