Is this Windows or z/OS data that you are encrypting? We use library
managed encryption for our Windows data and system managed encryption
for our native and VTS data.

I believe that the error has to do with fibre switch microcode. We are
at level (1.5) 8.5.0.154. It was fixed at a later 8.5.0 release then
that. The current available release is 8.5.0.214

What is it that you want to encrypt? TKLM is IBMs recommended (cost)
replacement for EKM (free). I believe that it is nothing more than a
key manager and serves up keys to whatever hardware that requests them.
In our environment our Java EKM serves up keys and utilizes RACF as the
backend
