I'm installing z/OS 1.8 on my sandbox. Our Oracle DBA person is testing
it. I know nothing about Oracle. He says it worked fine on z/OS 1.6. He
is getting the following:

The problem was actually an S0C4-10 in an LE program: EDCEXTVR in module
CEEEV003 in CEE.SCEELPA. Then, something clicked that was mentioned
here about C programs and XPLINK(ON) now being the default in z/OS 1.8.

At least your findings will keep several of us looking for that default
change when silly problems show up.
