Greetings,
We have a KSDS file that gradually fills up with records. After deleting a
large number of records we still received nonzero response codes when
trying to add new records indicating that there is no available space in
the file. We have no alternative but to disable access to the file
BTW This would have to be executed (e.g. through REXX) from the 'READY'
prompt, before the user's TSO PROC was started.

DSC is a product offered by IBM. It was once known as ISPF Productivity
Tool, or SPIFFY.
However, one of the CBTTape files offers a STEPLIB utility (I don't recall
which file number.)
At the shop where I got my start, I used the CBTTape offering to supplement
dynamic ISPF applications.

I did a simple search in Google and found something called Data Set Commander,
which appears to include a STEPLIB command. DSC seems to be at 8.1. Looks like
a program product.

It was SYSPROC that was commonly reallocated by CLIST and Rexx scripts in order

You are correct. 'PREPARE' only creates an ABR record. No verification or
data movement occurs.

Be aware that changing to POSIX(ON) will introduce other subtle changes in
behavior. For example, fopen()'s decision on what is a legacy dataset and what
is a UNIX file changes. I was surprised to see that DD:SYSPRINT was now the
name of a new UNIX file and happily created it under /u/!
No, its mounted under R/W .

On my system I can see this file name is
/usr/lpp/cobol/demo/oosample/Check.java. Unless you truncated your display
yours end with j instead of java.

Ben,
You're on the right track, but I've always kept the device numbers on the array
and z/OS the same so don't know if the mix of Annn on the array and Ennn on the
host would work.

Thanks. I had just spotted Charles's post back in 2012 with the same problem
and used a pragma. Now the init function fails with 202 (KEYRING OPEN ERROR)
but that looks like an admin problem. :)
Thanks

You need to specify a POSIX(ON) LE runtime option. You can do this in
the JCL or explicity specify it in your main with #pragma runopts(posix,on)

Ah, I've probably been remiss here, but I raised a PMR with IBM on this issue
in October - as a result, they PE'd UA76032 and UA76033. Apparently the changes
to IEBCOPY were to aid in the migration to COBOL5 and the requirement that
COBOL5 executables must be program objects.
The APAR is OA4908

Yes, the current code I am working in is written in C but we also have other
servers written in assembler and in time they will need to be SSL enabled. We
have already successfully set up AT-TLS but the powers that be think that
embedding SSL in the code is more flexible.
Meanwhile, doe
