That's what I think too. I've asked HW support to check it out.

Thats the message I receive if I try to ping a completely bogus address.
Never saw this error before.
Command failed, exit value is 2.
The command was [ping 10.2.8.62 -s 100 -c 5 -w 10]
There is something wonky going on here.
Thanks for the idea.

Ok, just for grins, lets try this:
Go into 'Single Object Operations' for the CPC in question. Console Actions
-> Network Diagnostic Information -> Ping tab. PING the address of the HMC
you were trying to use as the sysplex time NTP Time Server. See if that SE can
successfully ping that hm
Yes. We have STP.

Me too, thats how ours are set up. Do you have the STP feature? (is it

That might be because your SE's are not connected to your external network and
they cannot directly contact your NTP server(s). We have our HMCs getting time
from NTP servers on our netowork (make sure 'Enable as time server' is
checked). Then on the System/Sysplex ETS configuration tab ente
We have a couple of NTP servers in our internal network. All of them are
accessible from the internal network, no firewalls involved. When I'm on the
HMC and add one of them as an NTP server for the console to get its time from,
it's able to reach it. When I add the same server IP address to the
