Hi,
You're correct, lsioport -l will give information on port name, type and use
state. There are a number of other 'switches' that can control display output.
thanks,
Simon

Keep in mind that the article says that as it is IEEE doing the survey, and
IEEE's primary membership is Electrical Engineers, the survey is primarily the
languages that EE's would be using.

I think (but never used) "lsioport" or "showioport" would give such info...

Does anyone have the URL for the VM VTAM manuals?
My old link for VM manuals does not work.
Thanks.

I still keep a full set of z/OS 1.13 bookmanager books on dasd that I
occasionally use with TSO Bookmanager Read, just because I'm used to using it,
and it's quick to search. We don't typically exploit anything new, so for
most of what I'm searching for, the 1.13 books are perfectly
On a more serious note than my previous reply. There are many shops running
unsupported HW and SW.
As I recall, some of the early documentation for z/OS 1.x only existed in BKM
format (there were no PDF's available).
How are those people going to get the necessary information?

Apologies, Mr. Crayford :-)
z/OS is an interesting environment these days. There are a lot of options
in using C, Metal C, in-line assembler, assembler subroutines, or Metal C
subroutines from assembler. It's great to learn these, and learn them well
enough to choose wisely in organizing your

Weelll... that's kinda what "unsupported" means.
IMHO, the so-called PFCSKs are getting a bad rap. Management controls what
a company does, not programmers.

Are you sure you aren't talking about the Systems
I think we got the 3rd 360/50 produced. It wouldn't come up and they escalated
up the chain all the way to Armonk. Some gruff old 'specialist'-with stogie was
flown in. We had a couple of storage oscilloscopes and his basic diagnosis was
that it hadn't been 'timed'. So he set about to sync the
Thanks for the update Sue!
I realize the Library Server docs pertain to no-longer-supported releases, but
I still use them quite often in cases where essential content hasn't changed.
In such cases, I also prefer them in web-posting and email to reference a
specific page in a given doc
I'm told that this was an unplanned event due to a reason that I believe
to be sound, but which I am afraid I cannot share. The timing and
appearance of this problem are indeed unfortunate, coming as it does
hard on the heels of other disruptions, but I am assured that we had

for future maintainability it sure would be nice if IBM split the
/usr/include/__iew_api.h into two parts - Data definitions and function
prototypes.
OK, I'll bite.
Why is it important to separate the data from the function prototype?
Isn't the existing one syntactically correct? It might
Well, I started a wikipedia article on DFP and it went away on the grounds that
it was not notable. So maybe IBM has been talking to wiki?

As John eluded to, there was an issue with the publibz server that is being
worked on...stay tuned.
