I too had come across similar trees on the way to Rajmachi Fort from
Lonavala during my visit in Dec-08. I too had seen many such trees with
profuse flowering as indicated by you, the fragrance was strong and
pervaded the air for few metres around the cluster of trees. Locals told me
I am happy at least for the fact that there is one more person besides me
who is trying to remember plants seen 35 years back. Perhaps some one try
and find flowering specimen of this species. Leaves Dracaena, Cordyline and
Callisia look similar.

Withacnistin, both having anti-tumor properties. Extracts from this plant
have historically been used by natives as an herbal treatment for cancer.
