Hi folks,
I'm having the following problem, and I'm wondering if anyone can shed any
light on it, or offer any suggestions or things to try.
I have cvs (from the current cygwin distribution) set up on my laptop,
which runs Windows XP. My repository exists on a unix box and is mounted

It wants to know where you want it to look for stuff that belongs in
your home
I have CVS installed and working on a Linux server and am using WinCvs to
access the repository. I would like to use a the lock-modify-unlock model

WinCVS keeps popping up messageboxes asking me to indicate my "home
directory".
This being Windows, I have no home directory. Does anyone know what WinCVS
really wants to know?

While modifying cvs to support Kerberos authentication without root
privileges (a feature we needed in our environment here), I believe I
have discovered a bug in 1.11.2 which prevents the client from ever
making a successful :gserver: connection.
When I attempted to find a forum to which this in

Ok, adding ".cvsignore" to the file did not work, but this is mostly likely
due to the fact it was already in the Entries file. So now it is in that
file, and I manually removed it from the Entries file, which worked. Thanks
both of you for the help.

Remove the "classes" directory entry from the build/CVS/Entries file.

I previously did a cvs import of 'third party code'. I have been making changes to the
code, and checking these into cvs. I have done another import of the 'third party
code'. I was hoping that I could pick only the parts of this latest code that I wanted
to merge in with my changes. However cv

Shlomo,
If the "CVS internals" change for CVS/Root and CVS/Repository many people
would be changing scripts.
The global "-t" tag suggestion could be used. You are correct that the
output goes to STDERR but you could redirect STDERR to STDOUT (2>&1) as
shown in this example program:

Hi,
In my question, I was referring ONLY to the CVSROOT (and repository
location) of a working directory. Inside a working directory, the
information is stored in the CVS/Root and CVS/Repository files, and the
CVSROOT environment variable is not at all interesting (because it is

Shlomo,
You could have your perl program check the environment for CVSROOT as shown
here:
my $CVSROOT = "$ENV{'CVSROOT'}";
if ($CVSROOT eq "") {
print "CVSROOT is not defined - aborting\n";
exit 1;
}
If you are using pserver you could remove the pserver information using:
$CVSROOT =~ s/

Is there anything to take care of, when moving one repository to another one??
As I understand, the only information to be copied is the path in the modules
file in the CVSROOT dir, if the module is not in the main tree of the cvsroot
dir. The remaining information for the module is stored in

Hi,
I would like to use "cvs release" to get rid of a sub-tree of my project.
However, I noticed that "cvs release" does not update the "CVS/Entries" (or
"CVS/Entries.log") file, which causes a problem later when I want to run
other commands, like "cvs status", "cvs tag", etc. For example:
