We concluded our 9th annual DX Xtl set contest a week ago Sunday.
In the MW class, I heard 166 stations. Best DX for me (1600 miles) was
PJB3, Bonaire on 800 kc.
One guy in NE logged 289 stations with DX up to 2k miles. Mike Tuggle
had probably 75 stations, 90% over 2500 miles from his
Neil,
After a month of using the bogs as you prescribed, unterminated 500' and
325' bogs run parallel 2' or so apart to a phaser, they are everything you
said they would be. Direction and lengths restricted by the run of the lane
behind my house, they fire 118/298 degrees and are put out at night
I was half asleep abt 10:00 Sunday nite listening to WHAS
heard ads for Pocono Mts area. Didnt think much of it
at the time but is WVPO known to stay on very late??
Only other thing is I may have heard WEEU on 830 which
is a SSS pest here. On SR-1 so may have been off freq...

CBS news.
I can't find any reasonable matches. Does anyone have any idea?

There's the one on the radio, one at the U. of Alabama and me. It
appears to be on the way to an epidemic.
If you keep DXing Cholly, you will look like me and Willis. DXing has

Maybe I am like the rapidly multiplying Mr. Smith in the Matrix movie.
On a DX note, I had a nice reception of KGA 1510 in Spokane and
Gonzaga basketball. They are rare here because I have a local KFNN on
1510.
Maybe there was yet another Kevin Redding at the Gonzaga basketball
game.
Finding those generation Irivers may be tough. Just before the holidays,
Circuit City had the T30 Iriver for $47 delivered. I bought it for analog
recording inline recording. I had bought the Iriver 795 from Eagle
computers online for about the same price; it locked up and I got a refund.

Hi Patrick,
The transmitter is on Kadavu Island, near the city of Namara, per
information I found on the Web this weekend. There's quite a bit of
high-rez satellite photography available, too, through Google Earth for
this particular part of Fiji. However, I didn't spot any transmitter towers
Hi Charlie,
The IFP-795 is available refurbished for $63 at:

You can typically find it cheaper on Ebay, though.
I have this model as a backup recorder, and I think it's one of the best
for DX recordings due to the line-in, flexible encoding rates, and
Don't be surprised if you hear WDOV IDs on 1450. WILM and WDOV (1410 in Dover
DE) link up during the 6-9 AM morning drive time. WILM provides the majority
of programming with WDOV slipping in some central Delaware news a few times an
hour. You may hear both WILM and WDOV IDs on 1410 during

Still a fair number of weak carriers here between 1500 and 1530UT, but no
audio. Seemed to be a mix of down under (e.g. 612, 756, 1548) and Asia (774,

After a careful re-listen, and some filtering, I hear what sounds more

I was expecting NC, SC or VA. That's why I really didn't consider
WILM.
Looking back through my logs, I find that I never logged WILM from

Thanks for the update. Apparently a switch-a-roo of powers. In 1980, 774
replaced 711 and they boosted from 10 to 20 KW. 774 was a powerhouse in
those days along with 891. I remember noting that 774 was a good signal
compared to 711 that always suffered from KIRO 710 QRM. I have all of

I also see 810 is now listed as 1 KW. No wonder I don't hear them u/KGO

hear the Hindi programming u/KGO often in the 80s/90s.

They were FRC #2 // with 891 for years in Hindi.
