Thanks Robbie;
That is what I thought too but 2000' of any wire for less than $20 had
me intrigued. Too bad that you can't get 2000' of 16 or 18 guage
stranded wire for that price. :)

Good Morning,
Listened from 1300-1403 utc. Conditions down from
yesterday. More noise here this morning.
153RUSSIA, 1300-1304 weak with man in Russian.
189RUSSIA, 1305 fair with man in Russsian.
209Mongolia, 1308 threshold audio.
279RUSSIA, 1308 weak with man in Russian. 1315
Listened this morning between 13:08 and 14:08 and it immediately became obvious
that this was no repeat of yesterday's fantastic conditions. I'd call it an
average, or even a slightly under performing Fall equinoxial morning. SF72,
A1, K1 (who cares!). Upper band was down especially compared
I recently received my copy of the 30th edition of the NRC AM Radio Log. As
such, I am offering my copy of the corresponding 29th edition (2008-2009)

figuratively throw your hat into the ring for said item, and you are

Walt,
I totally agree. This was not a repeat of yesterday. Lots of powerhouse
JJ's, like 594, 693, 747, 774, 954, 1134, tc in, but not the signal of
yesterday. Here 4KZ 531 pretty much dominated after 1430 with nice spots
and tc's. Also 4QL 540, 4QR-612.

Exactly.
Other than stellar audio on 594 from
Colin,
I was hoping for a better morning with the TA carriers and KBRW being
logged last night. But it sure took a nose dive. I wonder how they did
out at Grayland?

Here is a nice site, that uses Google Maps, for figuring how many feet
that you have to work with in a particular area is for setting up BOG's
in parks and such.
http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/
You need to use the option: Manually (straight lines) or else it will
take you to the nearest road.
To
I should clarify. The site is not specifically aimed at figuring
distances for antennas but is a mashup site of Google maps into a
virtual pedometer site. Also neat for figuring distances hiked / biked,
distances of property lines and so on.

The end of Sept is often about the best SSS time of the year. Note that
tomorrow most stations in the US and Canada will be switching to night rigs
about 45 or even 60 minutes sooner than today. The extra darkness along the
paths to these stations makes all the difference in the world.

On this side of The Pond the second half of October can be good for logging
day timers and pre facility changes. At that time actual station sunset occurs
before the FCC sunset. This can give a window of opportunity of up to 30
minutes or so. I get the window of opportunity from the website

actually I feared that they would and THEY DID!

Interesting, watching the BBC news that for the first time advertising
on the internet has beat out radio and TV ad money in the UK. Is the US
far behind. Where does that leave the broadcasting industry?

Wow, just my luck, Walt! I missed out on the great TP activity Tuesday
morning because I had left my antenna switch in the off position before
recording the Perseus files. Two hours of recorded noise doesn't make for
very interesting DX.
Yes, I admit there are some advantages to DXing live and

Hello All,
With expectations high after yesterday, this morning's propagation was a
major disappointment for someone with modest equipment in a very modest DXing
location.
Whereas John, Walt and Nick seemed to have some salt-water-enhanced TP-DX

Kaz,
Great info. Thanks for sharing.

It depends on what each TV or radio station has going in terms of a Web
presence. If it's driving a lot of traffic to its site, then maybe it has a
shot at picking up enough Internet ads to offset the lost broadcast ads. A
lot of TV stations also have ads running before online clips, such as news
