My objection to the ARRL list over the years had been that the ARRL's criteria
have employed some very tenuous logic in some places, to the point that their
lists were, IMO artificially enhanced. I haven't paid attention for so long (
having not had to be faced with the prospect of adding a
Listened from 1250-1345 utc and the conditions were very strange. At times I
had carriers and audio on the bottom and top part of the band but I did have a
lot of t-storm noise. At times the audio and carriers would be strong but it
would only last 2 or 3 minutes than it would be gone.
Hi All:
Noted somebody on 1060 this morning (10/20) carrying ESPN (Mike and Mike)
mixing w/several others. Barry's list shows no ESPN stations on 1060. A check
of the internet reveals ESPN 1060 in Russell Springs, KY. This would have to
be Jamestown, a suburb (?) of Russell Springs, but the
Weird here. With a very strong 540 CBK on my ULR, I deicded to get up to

Up early for an appointment at 7 AM.
Listened at 1330 UTC on the Eton E1 barefoot.
Other than a couple of hets -- nothing to speak of.
LSR was still a good 20 minutes away so I may have been

I have the manuatal for the AOR7000+ and I think I'm doing things correctly,
but I'm unable to store anything.
I'm working my way up my already-stored memory keys, and get - for example -

Medium wave reception here was somewhat different overnight. Other than weak
carriers on 774 and 828 kHz before sunrise, no TP signals were heard this
morning. However, several TA signals were audible last evening.

I'm thinking that I have a problem with my antennae. I tried between about

I may have asked this before but as a high-schooler and college student
(late 70's and most of the 80's), I would hear KLVI 560-TX *almost every
night.* I don't think that I have heard them in probably 20 years.
They were probably my most distant, regular on any of the old 5 Kw
Regional channels.
Has anyone considered Bangladesh Betar with their 1000 kW tx in conjuction
with the Commonwealth Games in India? Walt

Lots of moderate hets, some producing audio, as of sunset tonight, at Burnt

I've been monitoring 1630 for Saul's catch. There is a station on with a

It is weak up near Stamford, CT and actually gets weaker as you drive down I-95
towards NYC.
This very well may be due to noise and especially
As others have observed, a dud of a morning for TPs. Zero audio from

Hello All,
After yesterday's lackluster TP propagation it seemed like things
could only improve, and a 1300 UTC band scan on the modified ICF-2010 did show
several promising carriers, on interesting frequencies (558, 738, 756,
etc.). Despite this indication, though, the Asiatic

Yes, Bangladesh was (is) the first guess of several, but not for Commonwealth
Games since Allen heard news. Bangladesh is scheduled with English news from
2130 to 2200 when they return to Bangla, and I suggested Allen keep listening
past 2200 to see if the English disappears.

I think the antenna problem was pretty universal this morning,
Waltthe wire needed to stretch to Japan!

My DX this morning was pretty much the same as everyone else's. It
must be that durned high pressure ridge that CKWX keeps talking about.
Maybe the TPs are bouncing off the top of it and heading out into deep
space ;)
