For whatever reason, the 1020 tone is not making it up this far north. Even
with semi-local CKVH phased down into the noise, I don't hear any tone, tho
there is another unidentified station there. This is opposite to the 1610 tone
which was here every night it was on.

I have 5 outside antennas and just 2 coax lines in to the house. All
switching is done outside via coax relays I found on eBay. Each antenna
feeds an impedance transformer first, so all switching, as Nick suggests, is
done at 50 ohms. Each relay has 4 male BNC connections which could
Hi Pat:
Thanks for the encouragement.
I sat on 1110 for a while last night, but just KBND and KFAB There was
someone else there, but unable to ID them. Knowing how conditions change
during the night, I phased KFAB down into the noise, set the timer and went
to bed. When I checked the tape

Great going Chris. You're ahead of me there. I've sat on 1110 (plus
overnight sessions with the recorder) for hours and never heard a peep from
them. I guess I'm gonna have to try again.

All I had here was a weak carrier, which isn't bad considering no other MW
TA's were in, though the nornal longwave stations were in as usual.

Hi Everyone:
For the first time in several weeks there were no MW TA signals in here this
evening. The past few eveings it's just been a few carriers with 1134 and 1215
the strongest. Having said that, the lower band LW signals were in with
excellent audio from Iceland-189 and fair audio from
Walt:
I use a combination of my 7030's 'bar graph' S meter and the sound of the
signal to find that sweet spot. But then I do have to adjust the phaser
slowly to allow the meter to catch up. Too quick a movement and I miss the
null. I don't think I could rely on just the sound of the signal,
No better up here Nick. I still have faint carriers on 1215 and 1053 plus
fair audio on 153 and 189. None of the other carriers noted earlier produced
any audio.

If it helps, I heard an ID from them a couple of days back at TOH + 11
minutes. It was a fast spoken ID in heavily accented English. Dunno if it's
regular or not.

Quite a few carriers here Nick. With just the usual 4 (153, 189 1134 and
1215) producing audio. Strangely, 1215 was about the best. 153 and 189 were
barely above the noise floor. Nothing noted on 999 and 1503, tho there were
carriers on 1575 and 1584.

Hi Tim:
I listened to both Edson on 970 and Slave Lake on 1210 for several hours
today and they are not parallel to each other. However, their ID's are very
similar, plus they are all owned by the same group and they both play light
rock. Where they differ is the FM frequencies used when they
Nick:
First signs of TA's here indicated I was in for a good session. Thirty
minutes before local sunset I had audio on 153 and 1134 plus a handful of
carriers. An hour after SS I still had 153 and 1134 with audio, plus 189 and
a few more carriers. Unfortunately it never got any better than
Hi Everyone:
It was reported some time back that CKWA-1210-Slave Lake, AB had moved to FM
and the AM was off the air. This information was incorrect. However, their days
are numbered.
A short while ago for the very first time I heard and logged the FM station. It
was parallel to the 1210

Edson 970 continues to elude me. Are they also moving to FM ?
They too have recently applied to move, so it should take a while.

Interesting question Tim. I never though of that. After local sunset both
970 and 1210 are a mix of several stations, so I'm not sure exactly what I'm
hearing. I'll check tomorrow when both will be in the clear.

You were wrong there Nigel. Just a few carriers and weak audio on 189 and
1134. And tonights even worse! Just 5 carriers shortly after local sunset,
and now 3 hours later, no carriers and weak audio on 153.

Hi Everyone:
After an absence of 6 weeks due to the unexpected funeral of a very old and
dear friend in England and 3 weeks on Vancouver Island for fishing and visiting
family, I'm back. Past 2 nights were very poor due to much aural activity with
splendid displays of the northern lights. This
