The timer function it has allows you to start recording at any time, for a

So you could start at a set time, r

am transceivers, which used to incorporate DC supplies now rely on
external DC supplies entirely. It reduces the overall cost and size of
the product, but the trade off is a lot more interference. The device
can be FCC certified, but often the switching power supply is not
included in that evalu

community. That's what made AM radio great.
Thanks so much!

3.) Best time of day to start looking for them?
4.) Optimum mode and bandwidth to look using an SDR-IQ?
Any other advice for someone brand-new to the effort?

Thanks to both Bob Souza at KCKM and Paul Walker for arranging this
test! Paul has done a tremendous job in arranging tests that benefit the
entire hobby, and we're all
grateful for his efforts. Looking forward to this one.

What software do experienced
DX'ers recommend using with the receiver? What's the best way to do I/Q
recordings? Is there a way to program the software to just record TOH
ID's overnight?
Any advice appreciated.

rseus! One other question--how much bandwidth can
the Perseus record in I/O mode? I've seen some sites that say it's
limited to 800 KHz, others say 1600 KHz, and others 2 MHz. My
understanding is that it would cover the entire AM band, which would be
1710 KHz (1.7 MHz)

73,
Le
Don,
I was advised that if you lowered the sampling rate to 950, the Perseus
could record 1750 KHz worth of bandwidth (the entire AM band). Have you
tried that? I assume quality might suffer a bit, but that might be
offset by the ability to record the entire band.

ytime hours?
Best catch? Tips and/or equipment advice for daytime DXing? My noise
levels here in suburbia are actually lower in the daytime than at night
unless I want to stay up well past midnight.

3.) Domestically, I'd like a map that shows which areas are operating
under sunrise or sunset authorizations. In other words, one that will do
the calculations for me.
Does such a tool exist?

Russ,
I use Geoclock, but it does not provide a view that accounts for the
tilt of the earth or if it does, I'm looking at the wrong map.

What I'm looking for is software that might aid in determining how much
of an opportunity exists on a given day for these types of loggings.
Does that make more sense? I'm sure that more experienced DX'ers can
just do this in their heads--but it's hard for me to visualize.
tuff I can find reference "the
good ole days" before stations operated as they do today. All of them
mention sign-offs and sign-ons, etc. Remember those? Me too, but trying
to make sense of the history lesson only adds to my confusion.
