[IRCA] WC TA
About 6 or 7 years ago Steve Ratzlaff and I connected via email and started a coordinated listening effort for long-wave broadcasters from Europe and Africa. On evenings when I could hear them in Michigan I would email Steve and in spite of being on the West Coast, he could often capture them also. We were pretty amazed. Steve was running some incredibly long wires at the time and I think it goes without saying is a pretty savvy radio DX'er. We referred to them as TA's until I examined the path one day and came to the conclusion that Steve was actually listening over nearly a trans-polar route. Which made it all the more impressive. I don't know how you West Coast guys do it! Only a very faint trace of 1215 here, but have had a respectable carrier at times this evening on 1566. 73, Nigel Pimblett Dunmore, AB On 9/16/2016 10:57 PM, R. Re: [IRCA] WC TA hints
My apologies ScottI used to have a signature on my e-mails identifying my location, but it's not there anymore. I'll pop it back in if I can. At any rate, as Neil said, Victoria, BC. West coast TAs have been a rarity in recent years, so I tend to hop up and down a bit even about carriers. Apparently I was late to the game this time, as Colin Newell (also Victoria) heard a bit of audio on 1215 a short while earlier. best wishes, Nick At 10:07 16-09-16, you wrote: Nick, What is your location? Scott ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Be sure to register now for the Joint DX Convention Kansas City, September 9 to 11. All I had was 4 LW TA's, all with audio.Last Friday evening was way better with carriers from 531 up to 1575, though only 1053 and 1215 produced audio. LW's were better that evening too. I'd agree with Mike... Altho I may have checked at a lull in the conditions, but things were very mediocre here tonight. LW OK but nothing special.
