Re: [IRCA] Puyallup, WA Ultralight TP's for 3-18

2018-03-18 Thread Gary DeBock
Thanks Nick,

Yes, those were the same 864 pips that I heard at 1400, Nick.

I had somewhat more noise here than you did, but I'll try to dig out a
recording. Regardless, any time a DXer can receive something on 864 around
Tacoma (WA) without any IBOC noise is a time for celebration!

Might that have been two low short pips and one high long pip on 864 Gary?

Here, those pips were preceded by a DXer friendly female announcer,
slowly giving the call letters, but I wish the propagation gods had
been a bit friendlier.

I won't prejudge by saying what I heard either on first listen, or on
looking at PAL.

best wishes,

Pete Taylor had mentioned previously, 850-KHHO's IBOC is now turned
off, opening up those two frequencies for DXing here in the South
Sound. 864 had Asian-style time pips at the 1400 TOH, but there
just wasn't enough signal for language recognition. .

Hi Colin,

Yes, Flux Capacitors are the latest attempt to make FSL's tune without exposure
to extreme weather. It works on Longwave, Medium Wave and Shortwave-- as long
as you hit the wrong key on the keyboard.

states-people... AFN perhaps? >>>

With Bill's recent success with Cambodia and Burma, maybe he would be a natural
for Secretary of State? He already lives in the right area, has had great
results in long-range trips, and has a lot of experience in listening to North
Korean communications.

Thank you for your March 18th report! I was wondering who was in possession
of the Flux Capacitors!

Today in the Victoria area, radio signals were particularly gregarious in
the post dawn period around 1400 UTC -
I think I missed the best of the action as I staggered towards the shower -
still in play were the high banders - with 1575 taking
the cake with an English sounding, strident "VOA" style voice - in English
no less - likely talking about Trump punting Tillerson
out onto Pennsylvania Avenue with a growing collection of unemployed
states-people... AFN perhaps?
There were clearly 1 or 2 other signals underneath the main one - which is
a little unusual for me.

Anyway - I think I missed most of the party.

Gary: Here, there was only a carrier on 702 kHz just before sunrise (1237

I assume it was from 2BL. Otherwise it was mostly Mexican stations on every

Good DX.
